Role Description

Help Build the Future of the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library! The Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library is looking for several Major Gifts Officers across the country to help build a national community of supporters around a once-in-a-generation institution.

This is an opportunity to do more than raise money. You’ll build meaningful relationships with individuals and families who believe in the power of leadership, citizenship, conservation, and active participation in our communities—and help connect their philanthropic interests to the Library’s mission and long-term impact.

Our Major Gifts Officers will work remotely from across the United States, traveling regularly to meet with donors and prospects in their regions and nationally. You’ll identify and cultivate prospective supporters, develop trusted relationships, make compelling philanthropic proposals, and secure transformational gifts that will advance the Library for generations to come.

Reporting to the Chief Development Officer (CDO), this position plays a key role in securing philanthropic support for the organization’s programs, capital initiatives, and endowment.

We’re looking for experienced fundraisers who are energized by relationships, motivated by big ideas, and ready to help shape a national philanthropic movement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree a plus.
• 5+ years of professional fundraising experience, with at least 3 years of major gifts or principal gifts experience.
• Proven success securing five- and six-figure gifts.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
• Self-motivated with strong organizational and relationship management abilities.
• Familiarity with Donor Perfect or other CRM/database systems (e.g., Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce).

Requirements

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Ability to occasionally lift up to 15 pounds.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Ability to travel to/between Medora and donor events, as needed.
• Flexibility to occasionally work evenings or weekends in support of organizational events.
• 50% travel required.
• This is a full-time, exempt remote position.
