Role Description
Act as the main legal support to the CIO, Head of Security, and tech team. Work with them to understand technical specifications and translate those requirements into precise legal language.

Draft, review, and negotiate technical agreements, including Data Processing Agreements, Security Addenda, and other SaaS-related documents.

Review technical documents and reports, such as security policies and audit reports, and advise on legal and compliance risks.

Work with the Data Privacy Officer to keep technical documents compliant with applicable data privacy laws, such as GDPR or local equivalents.

Stay abreast of developments in data privacy, cybersecurity, AI governance, and intellectual property.

Help develop and implement internal processes and policies that ensure adherence to technical and regulatory requirements.

Support the legal response to data breaches and security incidents, including assessing notification obligations and coordinating with internal teams.

Support internal teams in responding to RFPs and client due diligence questionnaires, including reviewing legal and compliance sections and providing CoverGo's legal positions.

Support the legal team on general legal matters, including drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial agreements such as SaaS, service, and vendor agreements, and advising internal teams on legal positions and risks to support business decisions.

Collaborate with the Legal Counsel, internal teams, external counsel, and clients, and support other legal tasks as assigned.
Qualifications

Must possess a legal degree from an accredited institution.

Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience as a Legal Practitioner, Legal Assistant, Legal Officer, Paralegal, or similar role.

Must be qualified to practice law in at least one jurisdiction (e.g., passed the Philippine Bar Examination).

Must have experience in handling tech, privacy or security matters (i.e. in a firm, in house, etc).

Experience in a tech company is a plus, but not required.

Proven experience in drafting, reviewing, and editing contracts.

Demonstrated experience handling technical legal documents (specifically DPAs, security exhibits, and SaaS-related contracts are a major advantage).

Strong legal research and analytical skills.

Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to explain complex legal-tech concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Keen attention to detail and accuracy in legal documentation.

Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively within a team.

Specialized knowledge and practical experience in data privacy, intellectual property, or commercial tech law is a major advantage.

Familiarity with security and privacy frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, SOC 2) or privacy certifications (e.g., CIPP) is an advantage.
