Role Description
We're hiring a Revenue Manager to own revenue accounting, billing integrity, commission and bonus management, and revenue reporting across our wealth management, tax, insurance, and practice-services lines. You will be our ASC 606 expert and keep the quote-to-cash process accurate from Salesforce through NetSuite. You will also bring acquired firms onto our revenue and compensation processes and use AI and automation to scale the function as we grow.
What Success Looks Like in Year One
-
Booking tables maintained to be able to reconcile with NetSuite and Salesforce on AR, Unbilled AR, Deferred Revenue, and Revenue.
-
Revenue close finished on a predictable timeline with clean reconciliations.
-
Accurate, on-time commission and bonus payouts with few disputes, fully reconciled to revenue and payroll.
-
Salesforce-to-NetSuite exceptions cut significantly through automation.
-
A repeatable playbook for integrating the revenue and compensation plans of acquired firms.
-
Reliable reporting on revenue per client and cross-service revenue.
Key Responsibilities
-
Revenue recognition:
Be the company's go-to ASC 606 expert. Own revenue recognition for all revenue streams, including advisory fees, recurring retainer or subscription fees, project-based tax and planning engagements, and commission revenue. Research and write technical memos on new offerings, pricing models, bundled services, and contract changes. Set and maintain the company's revenue recognition policy.
-
Commission and bonus management:
Own calculation, accrual and payout of commissions and bonuses for advisors, sales and client-facing staff. Ensure payouts tie to recognized revenue and plan terms. Capitalize and amortize commission costs under ASC 340-40. Partner with HR, Payroll and Sales leadership on plan design, dispute resolution and reporting on compensation cost as a share of revenue.
-
Month-end close:
Run the monthly and quarterly revenue close, including journal entries, deferred and unbilled revenue schedules, reconciliations, and flux analysis with clear explanations of what drove each change.
-
Systems and data integrity:
Own data flow and integrity between Salesforce, NetSuite and connected billing and custodial platforms. Build exception reports and dashboards that flag mismatches before close.
-
Billing oversight:
Oversee fee calculation and invoicing accuracy, including advisory fee billing reviews, discounts and fee schedules, and collections reporting.
-
Integrating acquisitions:
Lead the revenue workstream for acquisitions. This covers diligence on target revenue quality, harmonizing revenue policies and compensation plans, and moving acquired client books, billing and payout structures into Salesforce and NetSuite.
-
Cross-sell reporting:
Report on revenue per client and cross-service revenue so leadership can track how clients expand across wealth, tax and practice services.
-
AI and automation:
Find and deploy AI tools and automation for contract review, reconciliations, commission calculations, variance commentary, forecasting and reporting. Keep human review and audit trails in place.
-
Controls and audit:
Design and document revenue and commission controls. Serve as the main contact for external auditors on revenue and support regulatory exams.
-
Cross-functional partnership:
Advise Sales, Advisors, Client Service, Legal, Compliance and FP&A on the revenue and systems impact of new offerings, pricing and deal terms before launch.
