Role Description

The ideal Client Controller has a strong foundation in U.S. client accounting and is ready to own smaller client relationships, process payroll, review accounting work, and help clients understand their financial results. They combine reliable execution with curiosity, practical judgment, and a willingness to investigate when something does not make sense.

We are recruiting primarily in Latin America. This individual should be capable of performing Controller-level work after a structured onboarding period and have the potential to develop into a Specialist supporting more complex clients and FP&A. We want to see evidence of ownership, sound reasoning, clear English communication, and a strong desire to develop your skills further.

Core Capabilities

• Client Ownership: Follows an issue from discovery through resolution, keeps stakeholders informed, and arranges coverage before stepping away.
• Accounting Judgment: Reviews the balance sheet and P&L holistically, investigates unusual results, and distinguishes confirmed facts from possible explanations.
• Client Communication: Clearly explains what happened, why it matters, what still needs to be done, and what happens next.
• Workflow Discipline: Manages multiple clients, reviews others' work, meets commitments, and identifies and resolves issues early before they escalate.
• Learning & Improvement: Applies feedback to future assignments and improves processes after understanding the existing approach.
• Interest in Specialist Work: Enjoys problem-solving, analysis, systems, and coordinating the work behind more complex client engagements, with a specific interest in FP&A.

Qualifications

• Professional spoken and written English for direct communication with U.S. clients.
• Hands-on mastery of QuickBooks Online (QBO) or equivalent cloud accounting platforms.
• Multi-client experience with U.S. organizations, including month-end close and financial review experience.
• Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
• Comfort handling hands-on payroll and recurring accounting work alongside client ownership.
• Humble confidence, dependable follow-through, respect for core processes, and constructive communication regarding problems.

Strong Pluses

• U.S. payroll processing and reconciliation experience.
• Nonprofit accounting experience.
• Familiarity with modern accounting stack applications (e.g., accounts payable, spend management, and payroll tools).
• Demonstrated examples of improving a workflow or supporting a systems implementation.
• Advanced FP&A experience and background in preparing board-level presentations.
