[Hiring] Events Specialist @Dc Pearl

Role Description

Contract opportunity (8 months) with possibility of extension. As Events Specialist, you will plan, coordinate and deliver a range of in-person and digital events for Deaf Connect. You will work with the Community Engagement Manager, local staff and cross-functional teams to build event plans, manage logistics, coordinate stakeholders, track progress and support high-quality events that are inclusive, accessible and aligned to organisational goals.

• Lead the planning and delivery of key internal and external events, including event schedules, budgets, logistics, risk management plans, guest lists and stakeholder consultations.
• Coordinate operational requirements such as venues, catering, floor plans, supplier quotes, accessibility considerations, travel, accommodation and pre- and post-event briefings.
• Support local staff across states with templates, procedures, progress tracking, reporting and guidance to ensure events are delivered consistently and effectively.

Qualifications

• Relevant qualification in events management or a similar field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Proven experience planning and delivering events or conferences, including logistics, risk management, compliance, budgets and financial accountability.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build relationships with internal teams, local staff, external partners, suppliers and community members.
• High attention to detail, strong planning and problem-solving skills and the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
• Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office, project planning tools (e.g. monday.com) and video conferencing platforms (e.g. Zoom).

• Understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing Deaf and hard of hearing Australians.
• Ability to communicate in Auslan, or willingness to learn.
