Role Description
Kamehameha Schools is looking for a creative and technically-minded professional with a strong foundation in Hawaiian culture and familiarity with ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi. The ideal candidate is a strategic storyteller who can create meaningful digital and multimedia experiences that amplify Hawaiian culture, language, and community engagement.
This position manages collaborative digital media and e-publication projects from strategic conception with appropriate internal and external partners, to multimedia product development, to dissemination through strategic digital and other distribution approaches, and ensures content cohesion and logistical coordination among multiple projects, stakeholders, and collaborators.

Manages the design, creation and refinement of multi-media products that engage, reinforce and invigorate Hawaiian cultural and language vibrancy.

Strengthens collective community engagement around Kamehameha Schools’ goal of nurturing ‘ōiwi leaders.

Envisions multimedia products including graphic design, publications (print and digital), illustrations, photography, videography, and other cultural-educational materials.

Focuses on directing and delivering experiences through strategically selected virtual platforms for targeted audiences.

Leads digital development work and collaborates with internal staff and community partners.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Video Production, Media Arts, Graphic Design, Digital Design, Digital Studies, Digital Technologies, Digital Design, Web Technology, New Media Design, Media Arts, Communications, or related field.

Minimum 7 years of practical experience in the field with diverse portfolio and demonstrable expertise in at least two of the following: video production, graphic design, virtual engagement, and website construction.

Expertise in developing and disseminating multimedia products such as video pieces, digital educational materials or other products.

Deep familiarity with and engagement in efforts to strengthen Hawaiian culture, ʻōlelo, and ‘āina-focused education.

Ability to harness creative ideas and a deep base of Hawaiian cultural knowledge to create compelling multimedia content.

Effective written and verbal communication and presentation skills.

Expertise with digital technologies, business applications, or graphics software, applying the most up-to-date industry standards and trends.

Expertise with marketing and community distribution channels for multimedia products.

Ability to follow guidelines and work effectively under the direction of KS division and enterprise leaders.

Ability to problem solve and be self-motivated to achieve project goals.

Facility in using team communication tools such as Slack, Basecamp, etc.
