[Hiring] Freelance Senior Copywriter @DEPT®

Role Description

We are seeking a strategic Freelance Senior Copywriter with performance marketing experience to join our growing marketing team. This role is central to defining and executing a brand’s voice across all channels, with a strong emphasis on concepting, articulating, and executing technical concepts targeted at developers. The ideal candidate will be a master storyteller, capable of translating complex concepts into compelling, clear, and persuasive copy that drives engagement, and will partner with the multidisciplinary teams to execute and see concepts through to the end. This freelance role starts asap and will run through the end of 2026.

What You’ll Do

• Develop and articulate original and compelling concepts that inspire audiences, driving engagement and conversion.
• Deliver high-quality work from ideation through final copy and delivery.
• Set the standard for the brand voice across all platforms, with both in-asset and accompanying copy.
• Attend shoots, events, and product launches to capture content.
• Develop messaging for campaigns.
• Translate technical product features into clear, benefit-driven messaging tailored to specific B2B personas.
• Support in developing strategic narratives that win over clients.
• Offer informed perspectives that elevate team output.
• Work closely with counterparts across Strategy, Creative, Design, Content Creation, Community Management, Delivery, and Client Partnerships.
• Ensure we’re taking advantage of the latest tech and most advanced approaches, as well as expanding into new platforms.

Qualifications

• 2+ years relevant experience within a creative advertising role, or a startup environment.
• Experience working with major tech brands.
• Performance marketing experience.
• Deep knowledge of social platforms + best practices (TikTok, Meta, YouTube, X, Snapchat).
• Fluency within the Google Suite and Slack.
• Strong presentation and communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and listening skills.
• Comfort balancing multiple priorities on tight deadlines.
• A love for learning and teaching new things.
• A high attention to detail.
• Experience working at events and capturing content is a plus.

Requirements

• The pay rate for this position is $70-80/hr.
