[Hiring] Freelance Medical Journey Editor @Medify

Role Description

We’re looking for a freelance editor with lived experience of the medical school application journey in Australia or New Zealand to review and lightly adapt our existing content for the ANZ market. This role focuses on making targeted edits - ensuring accuracy, relevance, and authenticity - rather than full content creation. You’ll bring your first-hand experience to refine materials so they resonate with students navigating the ANZ pathway.

Key Responsibilities

• Review existing Medify content and adapt it for the ANZ medical admissions context
• Make targeted edits to ensure accuracy and local relevance (e.g. pathways, terminology, expectations)
• Identify gaps or inconsistencies in content based on your lived experience
• Collaborate with the Medify team to refine and improve materials
• Maintain clarity, consistency and a student-friendly tone across content

Qualifications

• Currently a medical student (2nd year+) or a qualified doctor in Australia or New Zealand
• First-hand experience of the medical school application journey in ANZ (undergraduate or postgraduate entry)
• Strong understanding of the structure, expectations, and challenges of the ANZ pathway
• Some experience in editing, writing, tutoring, or educational content (desirable but not essential)
• High attention to detail and ability to make precise, thoughtful edits
• Able to work independently and communicate clearly in a remote environment

Skills & Attributes

• Lived experience is essential; editorial experience is a bonus
• Strong written communication skills
• Reliable and able to manage a light but ongoing workload
• Thoughtful judgement when adapting content for a new audience

Engagement & Logistics

• Flexible, ongoing freelance role
• AUD $50–70 per hour, depending on relevant experience, with possibility of performance-based increases
• Minimum commitment: ~2 hours per week
• Fully remote with asynchronous collaboration
• Start date: ASAP
