Role Description

As a Senior Associate, Operational Intelligence, you will build and maintain applications, integrations, and automation that improve how our teams operate. This is a hands-on individual contributor role within Technical Operations, with software development as a core responsibility.

You will own defined features and projects from understanding the operational problem through development, testing, rollout, and ongoing support. This role is suited to someone who enjoys writing code, investigating system behavior, and working directly with users to deliver solutions that remain useful and reliable after launch.

• Design and build full-stack features, connecting frontend interfaces to backend services and data stores.
• Instrument services with logging, metrics, and alerting for quick failure detection and diagnosis.
• Partner with DoorDash Engineering and platform teams to align Operational Intelligence systems with company infrastructure standards.
• Work directly with operational users to identify recurring challenges and translate feedback into technical requirements.
• Develop integrations and data workflows using APIs, databases, and automated jobs.
• Contribute to AI-powered troubleshooting and decision-support capabilities.
• Use version control, code review, automated testing, and staging environments to validate changes.
• Investigate application and integration failures, identify root causes, and implement fixes.
• Improve operational reporting by validating data relationships and metric definitions.
• Create technical documentation, troubleshooting guides, and user resources.
• Measure the impact of your work through adoption, time saved, and improvements in workflow quality.
• Play a lead role in transitioning the Operational Intelligence team’s systems to a production-grade architecture.
• Mentor Operational Intelligence Associates to assist in their growth and development.

Qualifications

• You have 3–5 years of hands-on experience developing and maintaining software that runs in production environments.
• You understand how frontend and backend systems work together, including HTTP, client-server communication, authentication, and data flow across services.
• You have experience designing and consuming REST APIs.
• You have experience deploying and operating containerized applications (Docker, Kubernetes).
• You have worked with CI/CD pipelines (such as Buildkite) and collaborate through GitHub.
• You can write, debug, and maintain Python and JavaScript code, and can use SQL to investigate, transform, and validate data.
• You use LLMs and AI-assisted development tools effectively.
• You have experience with APIs, databases, and system integrations.
• You’re comfortable using the command line, and collaborating through Git, GitHub, and issue-tracking tools.
• You approach problems with curiosity and a root-cause-first mindset.
• You communicate clearly with technical and nontechnical audiences.
• You take ownership of defined projects and proactively identify opportunities for improvement.
