Role Description
For our client from the finance industry in Zurich, we are looking for an experienced, motivated and open-minded Java Engineer for trading solutions with Quarkus.
You like to create scalable backend services based on our tech-stack: Java running on AWS.
You have a collaborative and growth mindset. You care about quality and security and bake those aspects in the software development lifecycle. You are comfortable taking ownership of the whole development lifecycle, from designing solutions to running the application in production. You are proactive and get motivated with new opportunities and challenges.
Task Description:
- Actively participate in developing new features and improvements by writing and reviewing high-quality, secure code with comprehensive test coverage.
- Constantly enhance the quality and security of applications, identifying existing technical debt and making plans to repay it.
- Respond to production incidents promptly and efficiently, collaborating with cross-functional teams to resolve issues and restore service continuity.
- Collaborate with platform engineers to enhance CI/CD pipelines and streamline release processes.
- Collaborate with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) engineers and solution architects to optimize application availability, resilience, and observability.
- Nurture and guide more junior software engineers through coaching and mentoring.
Qualifications
- Expertise in Java
- Expertise in Quarkus
- Expertise in working with RDBMS (ideally Postgres)
- Working experience with utilizing Kafka
- Previous experience in writing, testing and maintaining real-time trading solutions would be a huge plus
- Designing flexible and robust REST APIs with an API first approach
- Understanding microservices, event driven architecture and being able to implement complex functionality with high quality and security
- Working knowledge of Docker and containerization
Requirements
- Experience of working with Kubernetes is beneficial
- Experience of working with AWS is beneficial
- Understanding of risk terminologies, such as margin calculations would be preferred but not strictly required
