[Hiring] Sales Director @Cross Rental Services Group

Role Description

Cross Rental Services is looking for a commercially driven Sales Director to lead and grow our retail sector business across the UK. This is a senior, high-impact role for someone who thrives on building high-performing teams, winning and growing strategic retail accounts, and delivering profitable growth. You will own the UK retail channel — leading the R&CS sales team, driving direct sales into key corporate retail clients for our CCS HVAC business, and ensuring we fully cross-sell the Group’s capabilities.

You will lead the retail channel nationally, reporting directly to the Sales & Marketing Director. This is a high-impact role focused on driving aggressive new business growth, managing large and complex multi-site accounts, and leading major contract negotiations and tenders. You will have genuine ownership of the retail vertical, significant influence over commercial strategy, and a clear platform to shape and scale a key growth channel for the business.

• Lead, coach and develop the UK R&CS sales team, setting clear objectives and driving performance
• Own and deliver the UK retail sales strategy across R&CS and CCS, aligned to wider commercial goals
• Driving significant new business acquisition while protecting and growing a portfolio of key retail accounts
• Drive senior-level relationships and direct sales with key corporate retail clients, promoting the full portfolio of HVAC and refrigeration solutions
• Identifying and converting high-value opportunities within retail, multi-site operators, facilities management, and related channels
• Identify and convert strategic opportunities, turning customer needs into commercially compelling propositions
• Build and manage a robust pipeline, forecasts and account plans with clear revenue and margin targets
• Differentiating through technical excellence, telemetry, environmental performance and the Group value proposition
• Work closely with operations, technical, marketing and finance teams to ensure solutions are delivered safely, effectively and profitably
• Represent the business with key customers and at industry events

Qualifications

• Proven senior sales leadership experience, including setting direction, managing performance and developing a sales team
• Strong track record of delivering revenue and margin growth against stretching targets
• Demonstrable success winning, developing and retaining key corporate retail (or closely adjacent multi-site) clients
• Experience of strategic account management, complex solution selling and negotiating with senior decision-makers
• Strong understanding of the retail marketplace and the ability to translate technical capability into clear commercial value
• Commercially driven, with excellent planning, forecasting, pipeline management and analytical skills
• Confident communicator who can influence both internal teams and senior customer stakeholders
• Self-motivated, resilient and comfortable operating with significant autonomy in a fast-paced environment
• Willingness to travel nationally as required
