Role Description

We are looking for a strategic, resourceful, and analytical Business Development Manager to drive partnerships with agents and higher education institutions in Africa (Nigeria as a priority, followed by markets like Kenya, Uganda and others).

You will help define Duolingo English Test's go-to-market partnership strategy in Africa and take a structured and proactive approach to implementation. You will play an integral role in growing this business from 0-to-1 in the country. The ideal candidate fluidly toggles between strategy and execution and excels in a fast feedback-loop environment.

Reporting to the Head of Business Development for the Duolingo English Test, this is a remote-friendly position that can be based ideally in Lagos or Abuja. The candidate will be expected to work up to approximately, 20 hours per week.

  • Define and execute a partnership strategy for Africa which will include:
    • Building an exhaustive database of study abroad agents
    • Formulating an engagement strategy which includes events, trainings, conferences etc
    • Ultimately, ensuring these partners are referring potential test takers to the DET

Qualifications

  • Deep understanding of the study abroad ecosystem in Africa.
  • Prior sales / BD experience and comfort with being given targets and achieving them.
  • Ability to combine strategic thinking with rapid iteration, hands-on execution.
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills.
  • Self-starter capable of working remotely and independently.
