Role Description

This role involves working with top customers and partners within the US/Canada four-year university space.

  • Growing usage and relationships with named organizations and faculty/staff by:
    • Responding to customer leads and inquiries from these named organizations
    • Working with faculty/researchers to incorporate our technology into their courses and projects
    • Traveling to named organizations to provide technical talks and meet with faculty/staff
    • Serving as the primary liaison for all inquiries by faculty/staff and ensuring top-quality relationships
  • Maintaining and growing sales within the organization by:
    • Serving as the primary contract negotiation point-of-contact to expand existing contracts
    • Maintaining the SugarCRM pipeline of opportunities and closing sales
    • Expanding the existing technology list on current contracts
    • Setting up sales-driven meetings with faculty and decision-makers to drive revenue
  • Serving as the entry-level sales engineer for the academic sales group by:
    • Having technical experience with Wolfram Language to assist other academic salespeople
    • Helping write technical talks aimed at sales growth
    • Training salespeople without technical experience to provide talks on their own

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience with computational software
  • Research, teaching and/or sales experience
  • Superb verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • Self-motivated and self-disciplined
  • Desire to learn and self-educate
  • Shows initiative and ownership for work
  • Ability to articulate ideas and instructions
  • Open-minded in exploring new fields
  • Master’s or PhD is preferred

Requirements

  • Location: Champaign, Illinois, or remote
  • Job Type: Full time (40 hours per week)/Permanent
  • Reporting to: Academic Sales Manager
  • Salary (for eligible candidates residing in the United States): Base salary expected to be up to $50,000 per year with expected on-target earnings (OTE) of $80,000.
