Role Description

mpathic is seeking a Program Manager, Human Data Operations to lead the execution of complex AI safety, evaluation, human data, and red teaming programs. This role requires an MD with a Utah license or familiarity with Utah laws for practice and is designed for a physician who wants to apply their clinical expertise in an operational, AI-focused environment. This position will begin as a part-time role, with the potential to transition to full-time as our programs, customer needs, and Human Data Operations function grow.

This role owns end-to-end delivery across cross-functional project teams and is accountable for project execution, quality, stakeholder communication, and customer outcomes. The ideal candidate combines a medical background with strong program management and operational capabilities. You are comfortable managing complex services operations involving distributed teams of experts, annotators, reviewers, red teamers, contractors, and quality assurance personnel. You can bring clinical judgment and subject-matter expertise to programs while also managing timelines, people, quality, and customer expectations.

You will act as the connective tissue between Data Services, QA, Engineering, AI/ML, Product, Data Science, clinical and domain experts, and customer-facing teams—translating ambiguous customer and operational needs into dependable delivery and keeping the many people involved aligned around what we are building and why.

This is a role about both execution and leadership. You should be as comfortable coordinating distributed expert workflows and managing customer expectations as you are applying clinical judgment and building systems that improve project visibility, quality, and throughput. You will start as a hands-on individual contributor owning your delivery pod, with room to shape how program management scales here as the team grows.

Qualifications

• MD degree required
• Interest in applying medical training and clinical judgment to AI safety, evaluation, and human data programs
• Experience in operational, clinical, research, healthcare, technology, or related environments
• Experience in AI safety, LLM evaluation, healthcare technology, clinical AI, or trust & safety operations is a strong plus

Requirements

• Translate ambiguity into execution: ability to take a complex, evolving customer program and turn it into a clear project plan, staffing model, and risk-managed delivery path
• Bring operational rigor and strong judgment; proactively identify risks before they impact delivery commitments
• Comfortable moving between clinical subject-matter expertise and operational leadership
• Experience designing or managing annotation workflows, QA processes, expert-driven data programs, clinical programs, research programs, or similarly complex operations
• Understand or are excited to develop deep expertise in modern AI evaluation, red teaming, and human-in-the-loop concepts
• Comfortable with high-stakes, sensitive subject matter such as AI safety, healthcare, mental health, red teaming, and trust & safety
• Ability to communicate crisply across project plans, status updates, and escalation paths
• Experience delivering complex programs in relevant environments
