Role Description

In this remote position, we are seeking a Technical Product Manager who thrives in a fast-moving environment and enjoys solving complex data, interoperability, and workflow challenges in healthcare. This role sits at the intersection of engineering, customers, and healthcare regulation and is responsible for defining, building, and delivering products that make healthcare data available where it is needed—accurately, securely, and in real time. This is a highly cross-functional and customer-facing role. You will work closely with Engineering, Customer Success, Implementation, company leadership, and customers to translate complex healthcare problems into scalable product solutions.

Qualifications

  • 3–7 years of product management experience, preferably in healthcare or health technology
  • Experience working with technical products such as APIs, data platforms, SaaS products, or complex enterprise software
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex customer, business, and technical problems into clear product requirements and solutions
  • Experience partnering closely with software engineering teams throughout the product development lifecycle
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience working directly with customers and cross-functional stakeholders
  • Ability to prioritize competing needs and make sound decisions with incomplete information
  • Comfortable taking ownership and operating in a fast-paced, evolving environment

Requirements

  • Experience with healthcare data, including claims, clinical, eligibility, ADT, provider, or member data
  • Familiarity with healthcare interoperability standards and technologies such as HL7, FHIR, CDA, and APIs
  • Experience with CMS interoperability requirements and related healthcare regulations
  • Familiarity with Da Vinci Implementation Guides or other industry interoperability initiatives
  • Experience with data platforms, analytics, population health, or AI-enabled products
  • Experience working in a startup, growth-stage company, or similarly dynamic environment

Key Responsibilities

  • Product Strategy & Roadmap
    • Own and drive roadmap priorities for assigned areas of Opala’s interoperability and data platform
    • Translate company strategy, regulatory requirements, market opportunities, and customer needs into clear product priorities
    • Contribute to and help shape Opala’s broader product vision for interoperability, longitudinal health data, and real-time data exchange
    • Evaluate competing opportunities and make thoughtful tradeoffs based on customer value, strategic alignment, scalability, effort, and business impact
  • Product Development
    • Translate complex problems into clear product requirements, user stories, workflows, and acceptance criteria
    • Partner closely with Engineering throughout discovery, design, development, and release
    • Own and prioritize the product backlog for assigned product areas
    • Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, product demos, and release planning
    • Make timely product decisions and resolve ambiguity as questions arise during development
    • Ensure products are scalable, reliable, secure, and aligned with relevant healthcare data and interoperability standards
  • Customer & Market Engagement
    • Engage directly with customers to understand workflows, pain points, data needs, and desired outcomes
    • Partner with Customer Success and Implementation to translate customer needs into scalable product capabilities
    • Distinguish customer-specific requirements from broader market needs and reusable product opportunities
    • Participate in customer meetings, product demonstrations, discovery sessions, and solution design discussions
    • Gather customer and market feedback and use it to inform product priorities and roadmap decisions
    • Develop a deep understanding of the healthcare interoperability landscape and emerging customer needs
  • Regulatory & Industry Alignment
    • Maintain a strong understanding of evolving CMS interoperability requirements and relevant industry standards and frameworks, including HL7 FHIR and Da Vinci Implementation Guides
    • Translate regulatory requirements into clear product capabilities and priorities
    • Partner with internal subject matter experts to anticipate regulatory and industry changes and incorporate them into product planning
  • Cross-Functional Leadership
    • Serve as a strong product partner across Engineering, Customer Success, Implementation, Sales, and company leadership
    • Drive alignment and clarity around product priorities, requirements, decisions, dependencies, and tradeoffs
    • Communicate product direction and release plans effectively to technical and non-technical stakeholders
    • Contribute to product documentation, release communications, enablement, and internal training

Benefits

  • The Seattle base salary range for this full-time position is $128k-$173k.
  • Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life and AD&D insurance, EAP, short-term and long-term disability, 16 days PTO, 8 paid holidays, fully paid holiday closure, parental and family medical leave, 401k, stock options and annual bonuses and salary increases based on merit.
