• Reviews, analyzes, and assigns codes based on appropriate coding guidelines and criteria for outpatient medical record documentation.
• Includes, but is not limited to, medical, diagnostic, and surgical documentation for assignment of the correct ICD-10-CM and/or CPT-4 HCPCS codes.
• Primary coding responsibility is Hospital Outpatient Surgery, Wound Care, and Observation.

Qualifications

• Education: H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required
• Work Experience: Hospital coding experience Required
• Experience in coding at a multi-hospital organization and remote coding experience is Preferred
• Licenses and Certifications: One or more certifications Upon Hire Required
• RHIA - Registered Health Information Administrator or
• RHIT - Registered Health Information Technician or
• CCS - Certified Coding Specialist or
• CCA - Certified Coding Associate or
• CCS-P or
• CPC, CPC-A, CPC-H or
• Coding Certificate program (AHIMA accredited) Preferred
