Role Description

This is a remote position.

We are seeking a skilled Occupational Health Adviser to enhance our Occupational Health services for Council employees, Schools, Academies, and external clients. This role is primarily remote, offering flexibility while delivering a full range of services, including:

• Management referrals
• Case management
• Health surveillance
• Wellbeing support
• Fitness for work assessments

Candidates with expertise in mental health and workplace wellbeing are highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Deliver a comprehensive Occupational Health advisory service.
• Manage management referrals and provide timely, evidence-based advice.
• Conduct occupational health assessments and fitness for work evaluations.
• Advise managers on employee health, wellbeing, attendance, and workplace adjustments.
• Support the management of complex and long-term sickness absence cases.
• Undertake health surveillance programmes in line with statutory requirements.
• Provide occupational health input on mental health and wellbeing cases.
• Maintain accurate clinical records and confidential case notes.
• Support the development of Occupational Health policies, procedures, and standards.
• Contribute to clinical audits and continuous service improvement.
• Ensure compliance with current Health & Safety legislation and Occupational Health best practice.
• Collaborate with HR, managers, and external organisations to support employee wellbeing and attendance.

Qualifications

• Registered Adult Nurse (NMC Registered).
• Significant Occupational Health knowledge and experience.
• Experience managing Occupational Health referrals and casework.
• Knowledge of current UK Health & Safety legislation.
• Experience providing fitness for work advice and workplace adjustment recommendations.
• Strong report writing and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage a varied workload.
• Experience delivering a high-quality customer-focused service.

Requirements

• Occupational Health qualification (desirable).
• Experience working within Local Government, Education, or Public Sector environments (desirable).
• Experience managing complex mental health cases (desirable).
• Mental Health qualification, training, or significant practical experience (desirable).
• Experience undertaking health surveillance programmes (desirable).

• £29.21 per hour (Umbrella).
• 3 Month Contract.
• 30 Hours Per Week.
