Role Description

The Medical Coder – Inpatient/Outpatient will provide multi-specialty coding backlog support for inpatient and outpatient services.

• Review provider medical record coding for completeness and accuracy.
• Query providers via encrypted Outlook email using Provider Query Foundation OneNote / 3M-Solventum 360; close queries within 30 days with a final impact determination.
• Maintain ≥95% coding accuracy across CPT/HCPCS, E/M, and ICD-10-CM/PCS.
• Meet GS-8 Fully Successful productivity: Outpatient 16–19/day, Surgery 7–9/day, Inpatient 4–5/day.
• Complete record coding within 7 calendar days at ≥95% compliance.
• Maintain current credentials, competency checklists, and CE records; submit to COR within 48 hours of award or upon request.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 consecutive years of continuous coding experience at a facility with patient volume comparable.
• Certifications (Mandatory — at least one):
  • AHIMA: RHIT, CCS, or CCS-P, or RHIA
  • AAPC: CPC
• Special Skills Needed:
  • ICD-10-CM (Diagnosis) and ICD-10-PCS (Facility Procedure Coding)
  • CPT, E/M Level Coding, HCPCS
  • Oracle Cerner and 3M/Solventum application knowledge
  • English proficiency (spoken and written)

Requirements

• Credentialing/Onboarding Time: 6 – 8 weeks
• Shift Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM Central Time
• Government-Furnished Equipment: laptop, two monitors, docking station, keyboard, mouse
• No billing/remuneration from patients; strict conflict-of-interest restrictions
