Role Description
The Compounding Specialist, Compounding Services will be a resource to internal and external clients for all compounding-related needs. The role will involve:

Providing support to clients on technical and formulation inquiries.

Assisting pharmacists with introducing or expanding the practice of compounding in their business.

Joining the Compounding Support team to provide exceptional advice and support to clients.
Responsibilities & Duties:

Review Formulas:
-
Review of non-sterile and sterile formulations as per client requests.
-
Evaluate client requests for safety, therapeutic efficacy, and appropriateness.
-
Verify formulas based on scientific evidence through primary literature search.
-
Check physiochemical compatibility, suitability, and stability of APIs and excipients.
-
Verify mathematical calculations, preparatory steps, ingredient sensitivities, and legal parameters.

Respond to client inquiries:
-
Receive, interpret, and respond to client compounding inquiries via email or telephone.
-
Provide technical expertise on troubleshooting day-to-day compounding issues.
-
Support with mathematical calculations, base selection, and formulation chemistry.
-
Consult on technologies, devices, equipment, and ready bases for pharmacy compounding.
-
Provide consultation on niche areas of practice including peptides, hormone restoration therapy, and more.

Address escalated client inquiries and perform scientific literature searches.

Quality System:
-
Stay updated on standards of practice and regulations governing pharmaceutical compounding.

Assist in the development of SOPs, Policies & Procedures related to formulation development.
-
Participate in continuous quality improvement of formulation database.

Additional duties may be called upon.
Qualifications
-
Educational background - BS Pharmacy, PharmD or Pharmacy Technician.

Experience as a Pharmacist with 3 - 5 years in the pharmaceutical compounding industry.

Peptide Formulation and Education experience (Sterile and Non-Sterile).
-
503A, 503B and cGMP experience.
-
Knowledge of regulations and guidelines (USP, NAPRA, FDA, Health Canada, etc.) is an asset.

Experience in training and/or teaching to pharmacists and lab technicians is an asset.

Knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite required.

Excellent communication skills; Fluent in French and English required.
