Role Description

As a Clinical Pathologist, the majority of your duties involve, but are not limited to, providing clients with diagnostic evaluation in the area of clinical pathology and providing necessary follow-up consultation. A high level of importance is placed on quality, timeliness, customer service, effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

In This Role:

• Responsible for gross and/or microscopic examination of clinical pathology specimens and preparation of pathology reports in a timely manner.
• Meet caseload and turnaround expectations.
• Provide telephone consultations to clients.
• Consult with and assist other pathologists as needed to promote collegiality.
• Partner with, advise, and assist laboratory personnel in proper specimen processing techniques and function as the pathologist on duty.
• Promote the growth of IDEXX by actively participating in pathologist meetings and developing and maintaining professional relationships/contact with clients.
• Participate in the quality control programs.
• Maintain proficiency and develop diagnostic skills through regular continuing education.
• Time may be provided off of routine diagnostic responsibilities to engage in other professional activities as approved by management.

Qualifications

• Board certification in clinical pathology - American College of Veterinary Pathology (ACVP) or European College of Veterinary Clinical Pathology (ECVCP) preferred.
• Applications from pathologists with local boards (e.g. FTA für Klinische Laboratoriumsdiagnostik) and board eligible pathologists are also encouraged.
• Fluent in German and English.
• Familiar with current topics and issues in clinical veterinary medicine.
• Able to type and use dictation equipment.
• Excellent verbal and communication skills.
• Service-oriented attitude.
• Able to organize and prioritize work.
• Computer skills are required.
• Experience in a veterinary diagnostic laboratory is preferred.
