[Hiring] VP of Member Growth @Maven Clinic

6d ago - Maven Clinic is hiring a remote VP of Member Growth. πŸ’Έ Salary: unspecified πŸ“Location: USA

Role Description

Maven is looking for a VP of Member Growth to own one of the most important numbers in the company: enrollments. This role is directly accountable for driving member enrollment into Maven's programs across our core business β€” and, by extension, the revenue those enrollments generate. You will own the enrollment engine end to end, from awareness through activation, turning eligible lives into engaged members.

Enrollment is not a single-team problem. It sits at the intersection of nearly every function at Maven, and this role is built for someone who thrives there. You'll partner daily with:

  • Client Success (who own the client relationships that unlock eligible populations)
  • Marketing (member acquisition and lifecycle)
  • Product (enrollment experience and funnel)
  • Finance (targets, forecasting, and unit economics)
  • Data (measurement, segmentation, and attribution)
  • Clinical and Operations teams

This is a player-coach role. You will lead a small, high-caliber team while remaining deeply hands-on yourself every day. Although it carries a VP title, it is explicitly NOT a leaned-out management position for someone who wants to direct a team from a distance. This is a hard requirement: the person in this seat reads the data themselves, pressure-tests the funnel, drafts the plan, and does the work alongside the team. We are looking for a builder and operator who also develops people β€” not a manager who has stepped away from the work.

We're also looking for someone who can expand the definition of the job. A great deal of enrollment optimization work is already underway, but there is not enough strategic thinking about fundamentally new ways to drive enrollments β€” approaches that don't simply depend on securing permission to communicate with a client's employees. This role is expected to find and open those new avenues, not just optimize the existing ones.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience driving growth, enrollment, acquisition, or revenue outcomes, with a track record of personally owning and hitting a number β€” ideally in healthcare, benefits, marketplaces, consumer subscription, or another environment with a complex funnel and multiple stakeholders.
  • A hands-on player-coach. You are energized by being in the details daily β€” the data, the funnel, the plan, the execution β€” and you lead a small team as a way to multiply your own hands-on impact, not to step back from the work. This is a hard requirement for the role.
  • Elite quantitative ability as a core competency. You can build and interrogate a funnel model yourself, size opportunities, design experiments, and instinctively optimize around data rather than intuition. Strong quant is non-negotiable.
  • Strategic range. Beyond optimizing what exists, you can spot and pursue fundamentally new approaches to enrollment that expand the team's purview β€” not just incremental improvements to current channels.
  • Cross-functional leadership and accountability. Proven ability to align and mobilize many teams β€” Client Success, Marketing, Product, Finance, Data, Clinical, Operations β€” around a shared goal without direct authority over most of them, and to hold each accountable to its operational commitments.
  • Commercial instincts. You understand how enrollment translates into revenue and unit economics, and you can partner with Finance on targets and forecasting.
  • Comfort in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment with high visibility and direct accountability for a top-line company metric.

Requirements

  • Own member growth for the Core Business:
    • Be directly accountable for enrollment targets across Maven's core business and for the revenue those enrollments drive.
    • Set the strategy, build the plan, and act as a control tower across all cross-functional teams driving revenue to deliver the results quarter over quarter.
  • Build and run a scalable enrollment engine:
    • Own the full journey from eligible population to enrolled, activated member β€” spanning client launches, member acquisition and messaging, the enrollment product experience, and re-engagement of eligible-but-not-enrolled members.
  • Expand the playbook and deliver new strategies to drive sustainable member growth:
    • Think strategically and from first principles about new ways to grow enrollments beyond today's optimization work.
    • Identify, size, and open avenues that expand the team's purview and unlock new growth.
  • Optimize relentlessly around data:
    • Build and consistently iterate on the funnel, and create systems that enable quick diagnoses of opportunities.
    • Build operational metrics that act as leading KPIs for each team contributing to enrollments.
  • Hold the cross-functional machine accountable:
    • Partner daily with Client Success, Marketing, Product, Finance, Data, Clinical, Payer, Sales, and Operations.
    • Hold each team accountable to its operational KPIs in the enrollment process.
  • Operate as a player-coach:
    • Lead and develop a small, high-performing team while staying in the execution and details.
    • Set the bar for rigor and hands-on execution by doing the work, coaching through it, and multiplying the team's impact.
  • Instrument and forecast:
    • Partner with Data and Finance to build the measurement, segmentation, attribution, and forecasting needed to know exactly what is and isn't working.

Benefits

  • Employer-covered health, dental, and insurance plan options.
  • Maven for Mavens: access to the full platform and specialists, including care for mental health, reproductive health, family planning, and pediatrics.
  • Whole-self care through wellness partnerships.
  • Hybrid work, in office meals, and work together days.
  • 16 weeks 100% paid parental leave and new parent stipend (for Mavens who've been with us for 1 year+).
  • Annual professional development stipend and access to a personal career coach through Maven for Mavens.
  • 401K matching for US-based employees, with immediate vesting.
