[Hiring] Japan SEO Content Specialist @Canva

Role Description

The International SEO team sits within Canva’s Growth SuperGroup and plays a critical role in helping users across the globe discover Canva through search. We work across markets, languages, and content surfaces—from templates to landing pages—driving both top-of-funnel growth and long-term user value.

As Canva scales, change continues to be part of our DNA. This role will involve:

• Joining the International SEO team as a passionate SEO Content Specialist to help scale growth in Japan.
• Creating and managing engaging, SEO-optimized copy and content for local audiences.
• Working closely with the Japan SEO Lead and local team.
• Providing initiative, direction, and support to create culturally relevant content.
• Starting with a 12-month contract at 20 hours per week, with the option to scale up to 40 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Native or near-native proficiency in Japanese with business-level English.
• Proven experience in SEO content writing and/or content marketing (minimum of 3 years of SEO experience required).
• Strong copywriting and copy editing skills.
• Experience with editorial planning and publishing content in a CMS.
• Solid understanding of SEO fundamentals.
• Familiarity with SEO tools like Ahrefs, Semrush, or similar platforms (bonus!).
• Experience using web analytics tools to measure content performance.
• High attention to detail and strong time management skills.
• Experience in creating landing page assets.
• Deep understanding of local cultural and linguistic nuances.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Collaborative mindset and willingness to give and receive feedback constructively.
• Curiosity about emerging channels and comfort with ambiguity.
• Data-driven adaptability and early adopter energy.

Requirements

• Champion content requirements for landing pages and blog articles.
• Create and edit SEO-optimized, engaging content.
• Upload and publish content that follows SEO best practices.
• Regularly track and optimize landing pages.
• Provide feedback on content management systems and translation quality.
• Work closely with the wider Japan SEO team.
• Support broader SEO activities such as keyword research and competitor analysis.
• Collaborate with country SEO and marketing teams.
• Stay curious about emerging search trends.
• Share observations and learnings about user content discovery.
