Role Description
Geographic Technologies Group (GTG) is hiring for a Creative Specialist who loves making content of every kind and making it compelling for the governments we serve. You will design visuals and campaign materials, turn technical content into something people actually want to read, and develop the creative concepts that help a proposal land. The ideal candidate has real skill and real enthusiasm for both the visual and the written word and enjoys moving between the two.
It is a great mix: marketing content that builds the GTG brand, and creative work that helps our team win proposals and presentations.
-
Title: Creative Specialist, Marketing and Proposals
-
Department: Growth: Marketing, Pursuits and Proposals
-
Reports to: Director of Proposals
-
Employment type: Full-time, exempt
-
Location: Remote
GTG helps local governments and utilities plan, implement and get value from enterprise GIS. Our marketing has to speak to GIS managers, IT directors, city leaders and procurement officers, often in the same campaign. The ideal candidate is comfortable switching between a technical audience and an executive one in the same afternoon.
Qualifications
-
Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, geography, GIS, graphic design or a related field, or equivalent experience.
-
3+ years of professional marketing and proposal experience, including at least 1 year supporting commercial or B2B/B2G sales.
-
At least 2 years designing proposals, statements of qualifications or other long, deadline-driven documents, preferably for government buyers.
-
Advanced Microsoft Word skills (styles, templates, section breaks, tables, captions) and strong PowerPoint skills.
-
A portfolio that includes at least one proposal or other long-form document, not only marketing pieces.
-
A record of fast, accurate work under fixed deadlines.
-
Strong graphic design skills and proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop).
-
Experience using Claude Design, or comparable AI-assisted design tools, to produce and iterate on marketing visuals.
-
Excellent copywriting and editing skills, with writing samples across at least two formats (for example web, email, case study, proposal).
-
Ability to manage several projects at once and hit deadlines tied to RFPs, events and campaigns.
Requirements
-
Copy writing and content (about 25%):
-
Write clear, persuasive copy for proposals, website pages, case studies, email campaigns, social posts, brochures and trade-show materials.
-
Translate technical GIS concepts into plain language for non-technical buyers, without losing accuracy for technical readers.
-
Keep messaging, voice and product naming consistent across every channel, including correct use of GTG trademarks.
-
Graphic design and visual assets (about 25%):
-
Develop visual concepts for campaigns, products and service offerings often starting from the strategic idea, not from a finished brief.
-
Design print and digital collateral: one-pagers, brochures, infographics, ads, social graphics, booth displays and presentation templates.
-
Use Claude Design to rapidly mockup, iterate on and refine layouts, landing pages, posters and campaign visuals.
-
Apply and protect GTG brand standards (colors, typography, logo usage) in every deliverable.
-
Work with GTG's GIS consultants to turn project data into visuals that explain results to clients and prospects.
-
Proposal design and production (about 30%):
-
Design custom graphics from scratch that turn proposal win themes and technical approaches into visuals an evaluator understands at a glance.
-
Format and lay out proposal drafts in Word and PowerPoint, applying GTG proposal templates and the clientβs required page limits, fonts and section order.
-
Create custom layout options for high-priority pursuits, such as covers, tabs, section openers and one-page summaries.
-
Build shortlist and interview presentations in PowerPoint.
-
Turn graphics and layout changes around in hours, not days, during the final week before a submission.
-
Maintain the proposal graphics library and templates so reusable assets stay current and easy to find.
-
Commercial sales support (about 10%):
-
Partner with business development on lead generation, prospect research and pursuit strategy.
-
Prepare sales enablement materials: pitch decks, capability statements, competitive comparisons and RFP response content.
-
Support conferences, webinars and client demos, including follow-up campaigns that move leads to opportunities.
-
Track campaign performance and lead conversion in the CRM and report results to marketing and sales leadership.
-
General marketing operations (about 10%):
-
Maintain the website and social channels and manage the marketing content calendar.
-
Coordinate with outside vendors, printers and event organizers.
-
Monitor market trends in local government technology and GIS to inform campaigns.
Benefits
-
Simple IRA Matching
-
Competitive salary
