[Hiring] Consumer Communications Manager @Etsy

Role Description

We’re looking for a Consumer Communications Manager to help bring Etsy’s European communications strategy to life, combining strong consumer PR skills with experience across the earned and paid media/creator ecosystem. As our work across Europe evolves, this person will flex across markets and priorities, supporting opportunities that extend beyond traditional PR into affiliate and creator/influencer workstreams.

This is a full time role reporting to the Director, Consumer Comms.

Etsy's Global Consumer Communications team shapes how Etsy shows up in culture for shoppers around the world. Working across multiple markets, we navigate an evolving media landscape to develop communications strategies that resonate globally and locally, driving cultural relevance, brand affinity, and consumer consideration.

• Support European consumer communication efforts by shaping and delivering campaigns which drive lifestyle, trend, and cultural coverage for Etsy.
• Develop and implement campaign moments that reflect the earned and paid ecosystem of today’s publisher and creator landscape.
• Flex across different workstreams from PR to affiliate to creator/influencer marketing to support local needs as they evolve.
• Work with multiple PR agencies cross-market, helping to ensure timely delivery of campaigns and always-on content.
• Work alongside cross-functional partners (marketing, brand, social) to help implement integrated campaign moments.
• Plan, lead, and implement consumer press events around key campaigns, maximising coverage and strengthening media relationships.
• Balance proactive and reactive storytelling, driving strategic campaigns while staying nimble and jumping on cultural moments that make sense for the brand.
• Share and amplify media coverage internally, keeping key leaders and partners updated with regular reporting on media moments, campaign impact, and press results.
• Source and vet sellers and products for localised media outreach.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of relevant communications experience across Europe, with a strong background in consumer PR/comms, as well as experience working with influencers/talent.
• Hands-on experience delivering PR activity involving affiliate publishers, commerce content or creator partnerships.
• Deep understanding of the evolving media landscape, including new and emerging media types.
• Excellent storytelling and writing skills, with the ability to turn consumer insights, marketplace data and cultural observations into compelling media angles.
• Immersed in culture, with a knack for finding authentic ways for brands to be part of the conversation.
• Thinks creatively and brings a fresh approach to exploring new communications channels and strategies.
• Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to run multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• The ability to build productive cross-functional relationships and independently lead agreed projects, knowing when to seek input or support.
• Strong media relationships with European (e.g. German/French) reporters/media outlets across multiple verticals.
• Experience with a dual-sided marketplace, ecommerce platform, and/or major retail brand.
• Experience supporting experiential activations.
• Additional language skills, particularly German or French.
• Experience handling external PR agencies.
