Role Description

This role involves coordinating responses to SEND tribunal appeals for a local authority on a 2-3 month contract basis. The position requires preparing legal documentation, gathering evidence, and representing the authority at hearings. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with legal standards and facilitating effective communication between stakeholders. This position is vital for maintaining the integrity of the SEND tribunal process and supporting the local authority in achieving fair outcomes.

• Coordinate responses to SEND tribunal appeals, including preparing legal documentation and gathering evidence.
• Represent the local authority at tribunal hearings.
• Arrange and support mediation meetings between families and the local authority to resolve disputes amicably.
• Ensure compliance with the SEND Code of Practice, tribunal procedures, and statutory timelines.
• Liaise with parents/carers, legal representatives, schools, and internal teams to manage disputes professionally.
• Provide expert advice to colleagues on tribunal and mediation processes.
• Maintain accurate records of cases and outcomes, contributing to service improvement.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of SEND legislation and tribunal procedures.
• Experience working in a Local Authority is essential.
• Experience with SEN assessment and review processes is essential.
• General education qualification is required.
• Basic DBS check is required.
• Valid driving license is required.

Requirements

• Working hours are 37 hours per week.
• The role operates on a bi-weekly payment schedule.
