Role Description

McKesson's General Counsel Organization (GCO) is seeking a Managing Chief Counsel to serve as the principal legal advisor and strategic partner to Core Ventures, the management services organization supporting Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute, and provide regulatory support for The US Oncology Network (Network). This is a broad generalist role that spans transactions, operations, data governance, and healthcare regulation across one of the largest community oncology platforms in the United States.

The role provides end-to-end legal leadership across the Core Ventures operating model:

• Management services agreements and intercompany arrangements
• Practice integration and post-close structuring
• Enterprise contracting
• Data governance

On the Network side, the role provides healthcare regulatory guidance, including:

• AKS
• Stark
• Fraud and abuse analysis
• CMS and state regulatory requirements
• HIPAA and PHI governance
• Privacy review
• Support for Network compliance programs

We are looking for a lawyer who does more than answer the question in front of them. The successful candidate will pair excellent legal judgment with a demonstrated record of modernizing playbooks, intake, and workflows so that legal support scales with the business.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
• Typically 12 or more years of relevant legal experience
• Active membership in good standing of at least one state bar
• Substantial healthcare regulatory experience, including fraud and abuse laws, Stark, Anti-Kickback, HIPAA, and state corporate practice of medicine and licensure frameworks
• Experience leading or developing a legal team, including attorneys and legal support professionals
• Demonstrated experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex commercial and healthcare services agreements
• Mature professional judgment in navigating legal and business considerations
• Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced, matrixed environment
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Requirements

• Experience supporting physician practices, management services organizations, or other regulated healthcare services businesses
• Experience advising on value-based care and CMS innovation models
• Demonstrated ability to lead or contribute to process improvement initiatives
• Prior in-house experience in a large, matrixed organization

• Base pay range: $192,200 - $320,300
