Role Description

This position offers a 3-month contract with a local authority, providing an opportunity to deliver expert legal advice and representation in Employment and Education Law. The role is crucial in supporting Senior and Principal Lawyers to ensure the Council's legal services meet legislative standards and align with organizational goals. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in maintaining compliance and upholding professional standards.

• Deliver expert legal counsel on Employment and Education Law to various Council departments and senior stakeholders.
• Handle a diverse range of cases, including intricate employment and education law issues.
• Draft and prepare legal documents, pleadings, witness statements, agreements, reports, and correspondence.
• Represent the Council in Employment Tribunals, Courts, Inquiries, Hearings, and other legal proceedings.
• Provide guidance on legislative changes, case law updates, and new legal challenges impacting the Council.
• Conduct thorough legal research and offer practical solutions to enhance service delivery.

Qualifications

• Post-qualification experience as a Solicitor, Barrister, or CILEX Lawyer specializing in Employment and Education Law.
• Proven experience in advocacy, case preparation, and delivering legal advice.
• Competence in managing a legal caseload effectively.
• Experience in local government is advantageous.

Requirements

• Must be a qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Chartered Legal Executive (CILEX).
• Possession of a current practising certificate, if applicable.
