Role Description
We are seeking an experienced and business-oriented Corporate Attorney to support a large, diversified brokerage organization offering retail brokerage, wholesale brokerage, underwriting, and claims services, reporting directly to the General Counsel. This role provides legal guidance across all business units, with a strong emphasis on litigation management, insurance defense, and claims-related matters. The ideal candidate combines transactional expertise with practical litigation experience and the ability to partner closely with internal stakeholders and outside counsel.
Qualifications

5+ years of relevant legal experience, preferably in insurance, brokerage, claims, or financial services

Strong background in litigation, with a focus on insurance defense and claims services

Experience drafting and negotiating complex commercial and insurance-related agreements

Demonstrated ability to manage outside counsel and litigation strategy

Knowledge of insurance regulatory frameworks and industry practices

Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Education & Experience
-
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
-
Active bar membership in good standing (California Bar membership preferred but not required)

In-house legal experience within an insurance company, brokerage, claims, or related financial services organization preferred

Experience supporting multi-state regulatory and operational compliance preferred
-
Familiarity with domestic and offshore insurance and reinsurance structures and agreements preferred

Experience supporting corporate functions including information technology, regulatory compliance, human resources, and marketing preferred
Salary Range
$180-$205k
