Role Description
Axiom Law is looking for accomplished Banking, Finance & Derivatives Lawyers to join our network and partner with leading clients across the financial services sector. In this role, you will advise on a diverse portfolio of complex financing and financial markets matters, including:

Corporate and structured lending

Treasury and liquidity management

OTC derivatives

ISDA documentation

Evolving financial regulatory requirements
You will work alongside banks, investment firms, asset managers, multinational corporates, and other market participants on sophisticated domestic and cross-border transactions, delivering commercially focused legal solutions in fast-paced, high-value environments.
Responsibilities:

Advise clients on a broad range of banking, finance, treasury, and derivatives matters, delivering commercially focused legal guidance across lending, structured finance, cross-border transactions, financial markets, and risk management activities.

Prepare, review, negotiate, and manage complex financing and trading documentation, including loan agreements, security arrangements, ISDA documentation, collateral agreements, guarantees, and other transaction documents.

Lead and support negotiations with financial institutions, corporate borrowers, lenders, investors, and counterparties to facilitate financing transactions, derivatives arrangements, and strategic commercial outcomes.

Provide legal and regulatory advice on issues affecting banking, lending, treasury, and derivatives businesses, ensuring compliance while balancing commercial objectives and legal risk.

Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders—including legal, treasury, finance, risk, compliance, trading, operations, and external advisers—to support transaction execution, regulatory initiatives, and business-critical projects.

Assess legal, regulatory, and commercial risks across complex transactions, offering practical, solutions-oriented advice to enable timely decision-making in dynamic financial services environments.
Qualifications

Qualified lawyer admitted to practice in Australia with substantial experience in banking and finance, derivatives, financial markets, or a combination of these practice areas.

Proven experience advising on complex financing and financial markets matters, including lending, structured and acquisition finance, treasury, cross-border transactions, OTC derivatives, ISDA documentation, and related financial products.

Strong technical drafting and negotiation skills, with experience preparing and negotiating a broad range of finance and trading documentation, including loan agreements, LMA documentation, security and collateral arrangements, guarantees, and ISDA documentation.

Demonstrated ability to advise financial institutions, investment firms, corporates, and other market participants while delivering commercially focused legal solutions, supported by excellent stakeholder management, communication, and analytical skills.
