[Hiring] Cloud and IT Manager @askblue

Role Description

We are looking for a Cloud and IT Manager to join our company, working on one of our projects in the software development sector, remotely from Portugal. We seek someone excited about technology, with a deep understanding of Azure cloud infrastructures and IT practices, a spirit of automation, and a hands-on attitude to solving problems and delivering process improvements. This role requires:

• Leadership and hands-on management of Cloud and IT functions.
• Alignment of IT with business goals and compliance requirements.
• Optimization of cloud resources with a strong level of automation.
• Maintenance of a secure and efficient technology environment.
• A balance of high-level vision and detailed operational oversight.

The role is entirely remote, requiring some flexibility in working hours on occasion.

Tasks

• Infrastructure and Cloud Management
  • Manage and optimize the company’s Azure Cloud infrastructure.
  • Support the full development team with DevOps knowledge (e.g., automation of deployments, setup of infrastructure for new components, etc.).
  • Ensure high availability, scalability, and security of IT systems to agreed SLAs.
  • Monitor and manage cloud resources, focusing on cost efficiency and performance.
  • Develop and maintain business continuity and disaster recovery plans.
  • Ensure systems and data are backed up and can be restored promptly.
  • Test and update recovery procedures regularly.
  • Continuous improvement of our infrastructure.
• Information Security
  • Maintain comprehensive information security policies and procedures.
  • Conduct risk assessments, security audits, and ensure incident response readiness.
  • Protect the organization against cyber threats and data breaches.
  • Support SOC2 and PCI compliance efforts, especially on the technology aspects.
• IT Management
  • Develop and implement the company’s IT strategy, aligning it with business objectives.
  • Provide a voice to leadership for IT investments and infrastructure.
  • Lead approved internal IT projects, from planning to execution, ensuring they meet business needs and timelines.
  • Prepare and manage the IT budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources.
  • Monitor IT expenditures and seek cost-saving opportunities.
  • Forecast future IT costs and investments.
  • Source and procure IT hardware and software, ensuring the best value for the company.
  • Evaluate, select, and manage vendors, contracts, and service agreements.
• IT Operations and Support
  • Oversee day-to-day IT operations to ensure reliable and efficient IT service delivery.
  • Manage IT support, troubleshooting, and maintenance activities.
  • Ensure timely resolution of technical issues and provide support to staff.
  • Maintain an inventory of all IT assets, including laptops, servers, and other equipment.
  • Ensure regular maintenance, updates, upgrades, and security measures for laptops and other devices.

Qualifications

• Autonomy: Highly motivated, self-starter, well-organized, and comfortable interacting with a diverse range of colleagues remotely.
• Team Player: Works well with others and helps the entire team succeed in common goals.
• Technical Proficiency: Solid engineering background, preferably in Microsoft technology stacks, with deep hands-on knowledge of Cloud technologies, especially Azure.
• Database Knowledge: Solid experience with SQL for either SQL Server or Azure SQL.
• Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills to articulate complex technical details and work collaboratively with stakeholders and team members.
• Hands-on attitude: Comfortable implementing all kinds of changes directly.
• Process Improvement mindset: Always looking for how to improve infrastructure and IT management, including automation wherever possible.
• Prior experience in similar roles with both Cloud and IT management.
• Familiarity with tools like Jira, Confluence, GitHub, and Teams.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity compliance frameworks.
