[Hiring] Director, People Partnering @GiveDirectly

Role Description

We are currently planning for a significant increase in scale, and we are building the People function that can carry it. This is a new role with two halves:

• Dedicated people partner to our Global Shared Services (GSS) teams [~200 employees].
• Build how we handle behavior and performance concerns across the organization.

The first year is weighted toward:

• Building employee relations standards.
• Partnering on performance and talent management.

Over time, the role will expand into:

• Org design.
• Workforce planning.
• Talent and career development.

This role is not solely focused on employee relations; it encompasses a broader range of people strategy.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of HR business partner experience with executive and senior leaders.
• Experience in a scale-up or major transformation.
• Demonstrated experience building employee relations standards, policy, or frameworks.
• A mix of high-growth commercial or tech experience and international or mission-driven experience.
• Experience holding or closely advising on disciplinary and capability decisions.
• Track record of influencing without formal authority in a matrixed organization.
• Judgment and steadiness in high-pressure situations.

Requirements

• Experience operating in sub-Saharan Africa (preferred).
• Experience building a people function from the ground up (preferred).
• Formal training or real experience in workplace investigations (preferred).
• Experience designing manager enablement content (preferred).

Benefits

• Base Salary: $134,400 (US), £94,695 (UK), $106,282 (Kenya).
• Bonus at Target Performance: 15% (~$20,160 in US, ~£14,191 in UK, ~ $15,942 in Kenya).
• Annual Benefits Stipend: $21,393 (US), £2,760 (UK), $8,453 (Kenya).
• Fully remote position.
