Role Description
Circana is evolving its Global Tax function to operate as a proactive, technology-driven business partner. The Senior Analyst, Indirect Tax will help shape this function and drive continuous improvement across sales tax processes. This role is responsible for managing sales tax reporting, compliance, and related operations while partnering closely with colleagues across Tax, Finance, and the business.
The ideal candidate combines strong sales tax compliance experience, attention to detail, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to independently manage recurring reporting and compliance activities.
Job Responsibilities

Prepare information for multi-state sales and use tax returns, working with a third-party preparer to ensure timely and accurate filings.

Review and reconcile sales tax accounts, investigating and resolving discrepancies.

Ensure compliance with gross receipts taxes, business licenses, personal property taxes, and other miscellaneous tax obligations.

Monitor tax rate changes and regulatory developments.

Support the optimization and maintenance of Avalara tax automation software.

Assist in managing sales and use tax audits, including gathering documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.

Conduct research on complex tax issues, new tax laws, and regulatory changes to ensure compliance.

Provide recommendations on tax positions and risk mitigation strategies.

Collaborate with IT, Finance, and other business partners to enhance tax reporting and compliance processes.

Assist in evaluating and implementing process improvements to increase efficiency and effectiveness.

Respond to and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on sales tax-related matters.
Qualifications

Bachelorβs degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.

3+ years of direct sales and use tax compliance experience within corporate tax, consulting, or public accounting environments.

Experience using sales tax research tools such as Bloomberg Tax or similar platforms.

Experience with ERP systems and tax automation software. Experience with NetSuite and Avalara preferred.

Strong Excel skills, including data analysis and reconciliation.

Experience performing account reconciliations, researching discrepancies, and resolving tax-related issues.

Ability to independently manage recurring compliance processes, prioritize deadlines, and escalate issues when appropriate.

Salary and Benefits

The salary range for this role is $80,000 - $90,000 USD. This job is also eligible for bonus pay.
