Role Description

This is a pro-bono volunteer position. JerseySTEM is looking for talented professionals across our departments to commit time and energy as long-term engagement for our mission to provide STEM education to underrepresented middle school girls.

The Program Instructors Recruiter provides leadership, direction, and planning to identify, reach out to, and engage with colleges and universities of interest that could provide volunteer program instructors.

• Interview prospective program instructors.
• Use a handshake to gather information about the candidates to be interviewed.
• Collaborate with the Curriculum Team and the Community Engagement team for the proper setup of the program instructors.
• Work with the Volunteer Program Director and other stakeholders to develop and refine the volunteer instructor training program (for COLE300, COLE.PIO team).
• Attend mandatory virtual team meetings weekly (Sundays at 5 PM).

Qualifications

• Genuine concern about/interest in solving the STEM education gender gap.
• Familiarity with the US college ecosystem and Gen Z or dealing with teenagers/young adults.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Resourceful, can-do attitude.
• Experience in a recruitment or volunteer engagement function.
• Comfort working in a ‘virtual organization’ with digital tools (G-Suite, Slack, Jira, Salesforce).

Benefits

• Membership is a minimum six-month commitment of approximately six flexible hours per week.
• Includes a $100 refundable deposit, returned after six months of active membership.
• K–12 educators, retirees, veterans, interns, and students are exempt from the deposit.
