Role Description
Aviation Institute of Maintenance is seeking an experienced aviation maintenance professional and educator to join our team as an Aviation Maintenance Technical Training Manager. This role serves as a primary instructional development, training, and coaching resource for Aviation Maintenance Technician (AMT) Instructors and Program Coordinators across an assigned group of AIM campuses. You will work directly with our campus teams throughout the year to strengthen instructor effectiveness, develop instructional leadership, support curriculum implementation, and promote consistent, high-quality aviation maintenance education.
This is a highly visible, hands-on role for someone who brings together aviation maintenance expertise, instructional experience, and a passion for developing other educators. Through campus visits, classroom and laboratory observations, individualized coaching, workshops, and ongoing partnership, you will help our instructors and Program Coordinators strengthen their skills and ultimately improve the student learning experience, retention, certification preparation, and outcomes.
What You’ll Do

Develop & Coach AMT Instructors

Deliver onboarding and hands-on training for newly hired Aviation Maintenance Technician Instructors.

Coach instructors on instructional best practices, classroom management, student engagement, adult learning principles, and effective teaching strategies.

Observe classroom and laboratory instruction and provide timely, developmental feedback.

Partner with instructors to create individualized professional development plans and provide ongoing coaching to reinforce growth.

Facilitate instructor workshops, webinars, and professional development sessions throughout the year.

Support instructors with lesson planning, instructional resources, assessments, classroom technology, and curriculum implementation.

Develop & Support Program Coordinators

Serve as a mentor and coach for assigned Aviation Maintenance Technician Program Coordinators.

Help Program Coordinators strengthen their instructional leadership, faculty development, and coaching capabilities.

Support instructor observations, performance improvement initiatives, and implementation of new instructional standards.

Share successful practices across campuses to promote consistency and continuous improvement.

Support Curriculum & Learning Product Initiatives

Support the development and implementation of curriculum updates, instructional resources, educational technology, and Learning Product initiatives.

Train instructors and Program Coordinators on new curriculum, policies, procedures, instructional tools, and educational platforms.

Promote instructional consistency while helping campuses effectively utilize available equipment and resources.

Help ensure instructional delivery remains aligned with FAA Part 147 requirements, accreditation standards, institutional policies, and approved curriculum.

Partner With Our Campuses

Travel regularly to assigned campuses to provide hands-on instructional coaching, mentoring, and operational support.

Partner with campus leadership to identify instructional strengths and opportunities for improvement.

Recommend strategies to strengthen student engagement, retention, certification preparation, and instructional quality.

Assist campuses with preparation for accreditation reviews, FAA inspections, curriculum implementations, and other educational initiatives.

Support instructors and Program Coordinators through organizational change and the implementation of new processes.

Contribute Across the Organization

Build collaborative relationships with Campus Executive Directors, Directors of Education, Program Coordinators, and Home Office leadership.

Help develop instructor training materials, facilitator guides, instructional resources, and professional development content.

Identify instructional trends and recommend improvements that strengthen educational quality across AIM campuses.

Participate in special projects supporting Learning Product initiatives and organizational priorities.
Qualifications

Current FAA Mechanic Certificate with Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Ratings
-
Minimum of five years of aviation maintenance industry experience

Strong knowledge of FAA Part 147 regulations and aviation maintenance education
-
Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, train, and develop others

Strong presentation, facilitation, and communication skills
-
Ability to build trust and influence others without direct supervisory authority
-
Ability to manage relationships and priorities across multiple geographically dispersed campuses
-
Ability and willingness to travel 80–100%, including overnight travel
-
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel by automobile and commercial airline

Residence within daily driving distance of an Aviation Institute of Maintenance campus
Requirements

Five or more years of instructional experience with demonstrated instructional leadership
-
Associate’s degree preferred; Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred
-
Experience with classroom management, lesson planning, instructional facilitation, student assessment, and educator development

Experience implementing new curriculum, instructional initiatives, technologies, or organizational change
-
Working knowledge of accreditation standards and compliance requirements
-
Experience with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, Canvas, and other educational technology platforms

Designated Mechanic Examiner (DME)

NCATT AET Certification
