Role Description

We are seeking a frontend engineer skilled in building React SPAs with secure API integrations, responsive UI design, and WCAG‑compliant accessibility. The ideal candidate excels at creating workflow‑driven UX for reconciliation and exception‑management systems, delivering performant, reliable interfaces while collaborating effectively across cross‑functional teams.

As a UI/UX developer, the work you’ll do at GDIT will be impactful to the modernization mission of Federal Financial Agencies. You will play a crucial role and conduct UI experience analysis of our client’s business processes, leveraging your technical expertise in UI/UX design and applications functionality to provide technical leadership and guidance for the UI/UX development of mission-critical financial applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build React single‑page applications using modular component architecture, client‑side routing patterns, and robust state management.
  • Implement the UI features, including drilldowns for out‑of‑balance conditions and structured exception review and approval workflows.
  • Deliver responsive layouts using modern CSS approaches such as grid, flexbox, and media queries.
  • Integrate backend APIs with secure data handling practices, schema validation, and structured error‑management patterns.
  • Implement protected routing, safe rendering behaviors, and secure session workflows aligned with reconciliation system requirements.
  • Optimize UI performance for data‑dense screens supporting reconciliation, exception tracking, and multi‑step review processes.
  • Apply WCAG accessibility guidelines through ARIA roles, keyboard navigation support, and semantic HTML usage.
  • Design intuitive end‑to‑end UX workflows for exception flows, drilldowns, multi‑step approvals, and audit-driven interactions.
  • Debug complex state transitions, routing logic, and asynchronous data flow issues to ensure consistent and predictable UI behavior.
  • Collaborate with backend, ingestion, reporting, and DevOps teams to ensure cohesive and high-quality end‑to‑end workflows.
  • Document UI components, interaction patterns, integration contracts, and UX standards to support maintainability and future enhancements.

Qualifications

  • Strong proficiency in React, JavaScript/TypeScript, SPA architecture, and component‑driven development.
  • Experience with React Router, centralized or modular state management (Redux, Zustand, Context API), and async data flows.
  • Expertise in modern CSS (grid, flexbox, media queries) and responsive UI design patterns.
  • Hands‑on experience integrating RESTful APIs with secure data-handling, validation, and error‑management practices.
  • Familiarity with secure UI behaviors including protected routes, session handling, and safe rendering patterns.
  • Working knowledge of WCAG accessibility standards, ARIA usage, and semantic HTML.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in debugging UI state, routing behaviors, and asynchronous workflows.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience building complex enterprise-grade workflows such as reconciliation processes, exception management, and multi‑step approvals.
  • Familiarity with performance optimization techniques for data‑rich dashboards and transaction‑heavy UI screens.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD practices and DevOps collaboration for frontend deployment pipelines.
  • Experience with UX documentation, design systems, and maintaining reusable UI component libraries.
  • Exposure to backend systems, data ingestion pipelines, or reporting platforms to support end‑to‑end workflow alignment.
  • Ability to collaborate across multi‑disciplinary teams, including product, QA, backend, and infrastructure groups.

Education

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.

Requirements

  • 10 years of experience in UI/UX development and implementation.
  • US Person.

Benefits

  • Comprehensive benefits and wellness packages.
  • 401K with company match.
  • Competitive pay and paid time off.
  • Full-flex work week to own your priorities at work and at home.
  • Award-winning culture of innovation and a military-friendly workplace.
