[Hiring] Senior Creative Director @Somewhere

Role Description

Our client is looking for a highly skilled Senior Creative Director to own the creative development of its acoustic wall products in a hands-on capacity. You will use generative AI to develop visual concepts, refine them into polished designs, and translate them into precise, production-ready vector files for CNC manufacturing. Working at the intersection of AI, graphic design, vector illustration, and physical manufacturing, you will work directly with the founder and have significant ownership over the company's visual product library.

Key Responsibilities:

• Use generative AI tools to develop, prompt, and refine new concepts for acoustic murals, architectural patterns, textures, and wall designs.
• Utilize Adobe Illustrator at an expert level to trace, rebuild, simplify, and translate creative concepts into clean, layered, production-ready vector paths.
• Collaborate closely with the founder during R&D to review physical prototypes and ensure designs interact well with physical constraints like density and cutting patterns.
• Establish repeatable vector systems and AI workflows that allow our client to efficiently scale its visual product library.
• Contribute approximately two hours per day during the early phase to website UAT and digital user experience testing from a designer's perspective.
• Maintain a high creative standard across the product portfolio and help build the processes that will eventually support a larger design team.

Qualifications

• Expert-level Adobe Illustrator skills with deep experience in complex paths, SVG files, layering, and preparing artwork for physical production (Required).
• AI-native mindset with proven experience using generative tools like Midjourney, Adobe Firefly, or Stable Diffusion in daily workflows (Required).
• Exceptional visual judgment and a strong portfolio demonstrating a sophisticated aesthetic appropriate for North American markets (Required).
• Strong written and spoken English communication skills with the confidence to give direct, constructive feedback (Required).
• High autonomy and problem-solving ability to figure out processes independently in an early-stage environment (Required).
• Dedicated focus as a full-time independent contractor without balancing outside freelance clients (Required).
• Prior experience with physical manufacturing, CNC tooling, or architectural product design (Preferred).

Requirements

• Priority Location: South Africa (SA) and Latin America (LATAM)
• Working Hours: Full-Time with a minimum half-day overlap with North American Central Time, working until at least 12:00 PM CST
• Salary Range: Range in USD ($) per month (The final offer is at the client’s discretion and depends on the candidate’s interview result, skills, and experience.)

Our client is entering its R&D and prototyping phase, offering an early, foundational role with the opportunity to majorly influence their product design and creative direction.
