Role Description
This role involves leading a design team to develop offerings at Khan Academy through design leadership.
- Lead the ~20 person design team in operationalizing the product vision and strategic priorities.
- Own execution of the product roadmap in collaboration with product management and engineering leadership.
- Drive product strategy and vision with the founder and other product leaders.
- Influence product priorities based on understanding of the education landscape and tech/AI opportunities.
- Manage the design team’s budget and headcount planning.
- Inspire team knowledge of customers and products to guide product decisions.
- Motivate and grow the design team to deliver best-in-class offerings.
- Lead data-informed decisions and collaborate with analytics and efficacy teams.
- Foster a culture of feedback for iterative improvement.
Qualifications
- Deep, relevant experience in technology-based product design.
- Strong leadership skills with a focus on mentorship and career growth.
- Able to collaborate and build trust across the organization.
- Exceptional communication and facilitation skills.
- Strategic thinker with a track record of customer-focused decision making.
- Experience supporting a user experience research team.
- Positive mindset energized by ambiguity.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Motivated by the Khan Academy mission.
- Proven cross-cultural competency skills.
- Experience creating products for K-12 districts and classrooms is a plus.
