Role Description
We are seeking a talented mid-level 2D Artist with a specialism in UI to join our mobile games development team. You will create engaging, intuitive and visually appealing interfaces for our preschool audience, alongside supporting the wider 2D art needs of our products.
-
UI Art Production: Create high-quality screens, buttons, icons, menus, overlays and other interface assets, maintaining clear visual hierarchy and consistency across each product.
-
Child-Friendly Interfaces: Use shape, colour, scale and visual feedback to make interactions understandable for young children, including those who cannot yet read. Work with Design to refine clarity and usability.
-
Brand and Creative Consistency: Translate creative direction and licensed brand guidelines into UI and 2D artwork, responding constructively to internal reviews and partner feedback.
-
UI Systems and Asset Libraries: Build and maintain reusable UI components, style guides and organised asset libraries to support consistent, efficient production.
-
Unity Implementation and Handover: Prepare and export assets with appropriate dimensions, slicing, transparency and naming. Collaborate with Engineering on layout, scaling and implementation, and review the results in Unity and on devices.
-
Wider 2D Art Support: Contribute supporting illustrations, backgrounds, props and other 2D content as required, with UI remaining the primary specialism.
-
Iteration and Quality: Refine artwork through feedback and playtesting. Work with QA and Engineering to resolve visual issues, including screen sizes, aspect ratios and localisation requirements.
-
Agile Delivery: Participate in task estimation, sprint planning and reviews. Communicate progress, dependencies and risks early, and maintain organised source files and production-ready deliverables.
Qualifications
-
Professional experience as a 2D or UI Artist in games or interactive media, with the ability to deliver work independently within an agreed brief and seek feedback at appropriate stages.
-
A portfolio demonstrating polished UI artwork, strong visual hierarchy and clear, consistent interface design, alongside sound 2D art fundamentals.
-
Strong understanding of composition, colour, shape language and typography, with the ability to work across different visual styles.
-
Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, or equivalent 2D art tools, and familiarity with Figma or a comparable interface design tool.
-
Understanding of UI asset preparation for Unity, including sprites, slicing, scalable layouts and efficient texture use. Ability to review artwork in engine and collaborate on implementation.
-
Understanding of mobile interface constraints, including touch targets, device formats, readability and performance-conscious asset production.
-
Clear communication, a collaborative approach and the ability to respond to feedback while managing tasks and deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
-
Experience creating UI for mobile games, especially apps for children or families.
-
Experience working with licensed IP and external brand approvals.
-
Hands-on experience assembling UI in Unity and creating simple UI animation or interaction feedback.
-
Experience supporting localisation and accessible interface design.
-
Familiarity with Agile production, Jira and version control such as Git.
