Role Description

We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join a small, cross-functional engineering team modernizing a data platform for a global financial services client. You’ll be working hands-on with Snowflake and dbt — designing data models, migrating legacy Oracle-based ETL processes, and contributing to architectural decisions alongside client stakeholders. This is a delivery-oriented role with real ownership. You’ll take responsibility for assigned components end to end, participate in client-facing technical discussions, and work directly with both engineering and business teams to define and implement solutions.

• Design, develop, and optimize data models and transformation workflows using Snowflake and dbt.
• Contribute to the design and implementation of scalable data architecture covering raw through semantic data layers.
• Support modernization of existing Oracle-based ETL and reporting processes.
• Investigate and address data performance, consistency, and reconciliation challenges.
• Develop and maintain data processing, transformation, and automation solutions using Python.
• Participate in solution design discussions and contribute to architectural decisions.
• Support DevOps-related activities including deployment, configuration, and operational aspects of the data platform.
• Take ownership of assigned technical components and deliverables within the team.
• Participate actively in client-facing technical discussions and project meetings.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience with Snowflake — data transformation, modeling, and performance optimization.
• Solid understanding of data modeling principles, data architecture, and scalable data solution design.
• Practical experience with dbt for developing and maintaining data transformation workflows.
• Proficiency in Python for data engineering, scripting, and automation.
• Experience with ETL/ELT processes and modern data pipeline development.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices and containerized environments including Kubernetes.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills around data quality, performance, and reconciliation.
• Good communication skills — able to collaborate directly with client stakeholders and participate in regular technical discussions with US-based teams.
• English proficiency sufficient for regular technical discussions with US-based teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Oracle databases, Oracle ETL, and legacy reporting environments.
• Prior involvement in data platform modernization or migration from Oracle to Snowflake.
• Experience with Power BI and semantic reporting models.
• Snowflake professional certification.
• Experience designing and optimizing analytical data models for enterprise reporting.
• Experience working with distributed, cross-functional engineering teams.
• Background in insurance, reinsurance, or financial services.
• Availability for occasional business trips to St. Louis, USA — approximately once every three weeks for one to two days.
