Role Description

The Institutional Research Analyst will work closely with the Institutional Research Coordinator and other team members to gather, clean, and analyze data supporting the decision-making process. This role provides an excellent opportunity to work with large datasets, apply complex coding, and develop data visualizations and reports.

Collect, clean, merge, document, and prepare data from multiple disparate sources to generate multi-faceted datasets using SPSS or similar tools.
Analyze data and produce descriptive statistics using statistical software and techniques.
Summarize trends in data for both external and internal stakeholders through reports, Tableau dashboards, and infographics.
Produce and maintain comprehensive documentation for finished products such as business intelligence reports, dashboards, datasets, and other outputs.
Gain in-depth knowledge of faculty and student data to serve as a reliable data steward for the university.
Assist in aligning research activities to the university’s Strategic Plan and ensure operational excellence in meeting departmental standards.
Clearly communicate comprehensive analysis and interpretation(s) of information to various stakeholders.
Interact with subject matter experts, data analysts, and IT programmers to understand data structure, assumptions, methodology, business rules, and limitations.
Serve as a liaison with departments across the university to assess data and reporting needs and develop scalable solutions.
Articulate university business processes to facilitate end users’ use of institutional data and reports.
Follow and help develop departmental protocols to support team members and contribute to the overall success of projects.
Exhibit patience, attentiveness, knowledge, flexibility, trustworthiness, positivity, tenacity, and a willingness to learn in all professional interactions.
Collaborate with the CIO’s Portfolio to support the modernization of data and information technology on campus.
Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications

Bachelor's in social sciences, information sciences, statistics, or a related field (or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience).
Advanced experience with SPSS or similar statistical software packages (like R or SAS) to organize and analyze large-scale datasets.
Experience with project management and task delegation.
Experience with Tableau or similar Business Intelligence software to visualize data.
Strong habit of producing and maintaining detailed documentation of all work.
Demonstrated ability to think critically when working with data to identify errors, develop creative solutions, and create insightful visualizations.
Proven ability to organize projects effectively and bring them to successful conclusions with minimal supervision.
Excellent interpersonal skills to collaborate positively in a team environment, influence without authority, and effectively give and receive feedback.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to clearly convey information in person, over the phone, and in writing.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's in social sciences, information sciences, statistics, or a related field (or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience).
Experience working with complex datasets and coding.
Experience working in a higher education environment.
Advanced proficiency in SPSS, Tableau, or similar tools.
Familiarity with Drupal or similar website editing platforms.
Experience with strategic plan assessment or program assessment.

Salary Range

$62,000+, depending on qualifications

Hybrid of remote and on-campus work
