[Hiring] Japan Business Development & Partnerships Specialist @Labfront

Role Description

We're looking for an engaging, bilingual Japan Business Development & Partnerships Specialist to be the face of Labfront in Japan. Your core mission is focused:

• Convert the inbound interest from Japanese researchers that currently stalls on language.
• Reactivate our referral pipeline with Garmin Health's local team.

This is a relationship-driven business development role, not a high-pressure sales position. You'll work directly with our globally distributed leadership team and alongside Garmin Health's team in Japan.

What You'll Do

• Convert inbound interest from Japanese researchers into active projects — manage a structured pipeline with consistent, proactive follow-up, from first conversation through university procurement to signed agreements.
• Serve as Labfront's local liaison for Garmin Health in Japan: qualify and nurture their referral pipeline, working alongside their local team to rebuild a partnership with significant proven potential.
• Be the primary Japanese-language contact for our existing Japan-based researchers — onboarding, support, and bridging their needs to our product and analytics teams.
• Gather on-the-ground market intelligence: localization needs, feature requests, partnership opportunities — and help document the Japan playbook as we scale it.

Qualifications

• Native-level Japanese (required): You'll serve customers and partners in Japanese.
• Working professional English: Enough to collaborate day-to-day with our global team over Slack and video calls.
• BD/partnerships aptitude: You've managed business relationships, pipelines, or accounts.
• Relationship builder: Personable, engaging, consultative.
• Self-starter: Organized, proactive, and comfortable figuring things out in a fast-moving startup.
• Bonus (not required): Familiarity with academic research, health tech, or wearables.

Requirements

Benefits

• Own a market: Be the person who builds Labfront's presence in Japan.
• Genuinely flexible: ~15 hours/week, remote, on a schedule you control.
• Work with the best: Partner closely with Garmin Health and top-tier research institutions.
• Grow with the market: Hours and scope expand as the pipeline you build proves out.
