[Hiring] Director of Business Development @IAPMO

Role Description

IAPMO is seeking a strategic, results-driven Director of Business Development to lead growth initiatives across our plumbing product certification business. Reporting to the EVP of Industry Relations and Business Development, this leader will be responsible for:

• Developing and executing strategies to drive business growth, customer acquisition, and market expansion.
• Growing IAPMO’s product certification business and establishing measurable goals, KPIs, and reporting.
• Identifying market trends, emerging products, competitive activity, and new revenue opportunities.
• Building and strengthening relationships with manufacturers, industry partners, prospective clients, and key stakeholders.
• Analyzing competitive certification agencies and developing strategies to win and transition new business to IAPMO.
• Leading and developing the Business Development team, including coaching, training, and performance support.
• Partnering with Marketing, Legal, technical teams, and other IAPMO business units on strategic initiatives.
• Serving as a senior point of contact for complex client needs and high-level business opportunities.
• Representing IAPMO at trade shows, association meetings, and industry events.
• Supporting strategic pricing, customer retention, sales processes, and business development analytics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
• 8–10 years of progressive sales, business development, or customer-facing experience.
• 2–5 years of leadership or supervisory experience.
• Proven ability to develop business strategies, build relationships, and identify growth opportunities.
• Strong executive-level communication, negotiation, analytical, and leadership skills.
• Experience within the plumbing industry, manufacturing, testing laboratories, product certification, or a related technical industry is highly desirable.
• Ability to work successfully in a remote environment with limited direct supervision.
• Ability to travel up to 15% throughout North America.

• Salary $140,000-$175,000. Actual compensation will be based on several factors, including education, relevant experience, qualifications, and geographic location.
