Role Description

The GitLab Global Services Practice Management team defines and matures the consulting services offered by GitLab Global Services and Partner organizations with a focus on creating long-term success for our customers.

The Sr. Practice Engineer, Partner Enablement is pivotal in ensuring our service partners have the technical skills and knowledge to implement, integrate, and support our software solutions effectively. You will be responsible for:

  • Creating and delivering comprehensive technical training programs (both virtual and in-person) for partners, covering installation, configuration, customization, and troubleshooting of our software products.
  • Developing technical enablement assets such as guides, how-to videos, certification exams, and hands-on labs to empower partners at different technical skill levels.
  • Leading the technical component of partner onboarding, ensuring partners quickly gain the expertise needed to deploy and support our solutions in various environments.
  • Acting as a technical advisor and point of contact for partners, providing support during complex customer implementations, and troubleshooting technical issues.
  • Managing and administering a certification program to validate and recognize partner competencies. Assessing and identifying areas for improvement in partner skill sets and tailoring training programs accordingly.
  • Staying current with product updates, enhancements, and best practices, acting as a technical evangelist to partners.
  • Gathering and analyzing feedback from partners to continually refine and improve technical training programs, documentation, and other enablement resources.
  • Collaborating closely with internal teams, including Product, Engineering, and Professional Services, to ensure partners are trained on the latest technical capabilities and use cases.
  • Defining success metrics for partner enablement initiatives, analyzing trends, and making data-driven recommendations for program improvements.
  • Mentoring other members of the team, providing guidance on complex technical issues and helping develop best practices.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge and familiarity with the Software Development Life Cycle, DevOps, and DevSecOps are required (open source software knowledge and familiarity are considered a plus).
  • Strong technical background with hands-on experience in software implementation, support, or consulting.
  • Deep understanding of software build tools such as Maven, Ant, Jenkins, and Gradle.
  • Familiarity with relevant technical domains such as package managers, containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift) and cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Proven experience in developing and delivering technical training to external audiences.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts clearly and engage an audience during training sessions.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with partners and provide a high level of support and engagement to help them succeed.
  • Enthusiastic about staying up to date with evolving technologies and product developments.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, unpredictable environment.

  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills, skilled at organizing development efforts and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Experienced in giving and receiving constructive feedback.
  • Highly determined to learn new things, including GitLab.
