Role Description

The Senior Claims Appraiser – Agriculture / Heavy Equipment contributes to Wawanesa’s goal of delivering an exceptional and consistent claims service experience through the inspection and estimation of equipment physical damage and/or property damage claims including market value calculations. Daily travel is required.

Job Responsibilities

• Inspect, evaluate and write appraisal estimates pertaining to the physical damage of Farm/agriculture or commercial heavy equipment losses using estimating software.
• Communicate with insureds, contractors and adjusters as required to ensure accurate and complete estimates.
• Establish and maintain business relationship with independent repair contractors/vendors.
• Assist adjusting personnel when necessary by providing expert advice on property or equipment damage losses.
• Assist in resolving issues that arise in regards to estimates.
• Manage timely and efficient inspection appointments at various locations.
• Perform re-inspections as assigned.
• Maintain accurate records based on company standards and policies within the claims system.
• Remain up-to-date with legislative changes, trends in the insurance industry, estimating practices and developments in vehicle or property repair procedures and materials.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Experience in agriculture, working with agricultural and commercial heavy equipment.
• Heavy Duty Equipment Technician or Agriculture Equipment Technician (Red Seal) an asset.
• Knowledge of appraisal values and how to assess all types of agricultural and heavy equipment.
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
• Ability to travel regularly, work a flexible schedule, and occasionally work outside regular business hours.
• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the role, which may include lifting up to 50 pounds, working independently, working outdoors in all weather conditions, and driving for extended periods.
• Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate with empathy, professionalism, and care.
• Excellent communication, investigative, analytical, negotiation, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize competing demands in a fast-paced environment.
• Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy in documentation and data entry.
• Collaborative team player with the ability to provide support, guidance, and technical advice to others.
