Role Description

Would you like to use your experience of developing evidence-based policy to help us identify the policy action needed to affect change in dementia at national and local levels? Could you ensure the UK Brain Health Coalition is an authoritative and influential voice for policy and system change?

We are recruiting for a Policy and Brain Health Coalition Manager, this is a full-time position, working 35 hours per week on a fixed-term contract lasting 12 months. This is a home-based role, though you will be required to travel to attend brain health clinics, conferences, events and in-person stakeholder or team meetings.

As Policy and Brain Health Coalition Manager you will play a key role in the Alzheimer’s Society’s ambitions to drive major system and policy change across England, Northern Ireland and Wales at an exciting time in dementia policy. You will lead evidence-based, collaborative, engaging and innovative policy development, working with evidence, insight and lived experience to build strong cases for change and influence national and local policy and practice.

A significant priority for you will be leading Alzheimer’s Society’s engagement with, and support for, the UK Brain Health Coalition. This includes:

• Facilitating the effective operation of the coalition
• Coordinating programmes of work
• Developing high-quality outputs and reports

You will also be part of the policy leadership team, providing expert policy advice to colleagues across the Society, including those at senior levels. Crucially, you will drive work around identifying the policy action needed to affect change in dementia at national and local levels and ensure the UK Brain Health Coalition is an authoritative and influential voice for policy and system change.

Interviews for this role have been provisionally scheduled to take place via MS Teams on Wednesday 21st October.

Qualifications

• Significant experience of developing evidence-based policy in a health and care context
• Ability to translate complex clinical, research or policy information into persuasive policy writing
• In-depth understanding of the health and care policy environment, including NHS, health systems and clinical pathways
• Experience of providing leadership through building relationships, managing and developing others
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to gather evidence, insight and data to underpin policy development
• Experience of engaging with patients, service-users and/or those living with long-term health conditions

• Creating, assessing and prioritising policy positions using innovation, collaboration, evidence and engagement
• Line managing and developing a high performing Policy Officer
• Planning, budgeting, reporting, evaluating impact and managing risk across all aspects of our policy work
• Building impactful, sustainable relationships with senior external stakeholders
• Ensuring the experience and insight of people affected by dementia informs all aspects of our policy work
• Leading Alzheimer’s Society’s engagement with, and support for, the UK Brain Health Coalition
• Working with coalition members, partners and other dementia charities to identify priorities
