[Hiring] Payment Operations Specialist @Capchase

Role Description

We're looking for a highly analytical, detail-oriented, and proactive Payment Operations Specialist to join one of the most dynamic and critical teams at Capchase. Payment Operations sits at the center of our business, where everything from deal origination and approvals to funding and customer repayments comes together. Our team ensures deals are accurately deployed, funds move on time, and every transaction is properly reconciled.

This is more than a payment processing role. You'll own critical daily operations while helping us build smarter, more scalable processes. We're looking for someone who is naturally curious, questions things that don't look right, and enjoys understanding how systems work. Someone who doesn't just flag an issue, but investigates its cause, understands its impact, and helps find a solution. You'll work closely with Finance, Capital Markets, Risk, Product, Engineering, and other Operations teams, combining accurate daily execution with continuous improvement.

What You'll Do

• Own Daily Payment Operations
  • Review, validate, and deploy approved deals, ensuring financial details, documentation, payment schedules, and approvals are accurate.
  • Execute and monitor vendor payouts, customer collections, refunds, and other money movement activities across payment rails and currencies.
  • Perform daily cash and payment reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and resolve failed, returned, duplicate, or misapplied transactions.
  • Independently manage time-sensitive priorities while maintaining accuracy and meeting banking deadlines.
• Investigate, Question, and Improve
  • Challenge unusual transactions, inconsistent information, or suspicious payment instructions before processing.
  • Investigate operational issues and platform bugs, identify root causes, assess their broader impact, and drive resolution.
  • Develop a strong understanding of our platform and the end-to-end transaction lifecycle, from deal origination through funding and repayment.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify, automate, and scale workflows using modern tools, including AI agents and automation.
  • Partner with Product and Engineering to improve platform functionality, test solutions, and strengthen operational controls.
• Collaborate and Take Ownership
  • Coordinate with Finance, Capital Markets, Risk, Collections, and Customer Operations to resolve issues and ensure smooth handoffs.
  • Communicate blockers, risks, and outstanding items clearly and proactively, following through until resolution.
  • Support operational reporting, month-end reconciliations, and other cross-functional initiatives.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in operations, payments, treasury, or another analytical, execution-focused role, ideally in a fast-paced environment.
• Exceptional attention to detail and critical thinking.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with confidence working with large datasets and investigating complex issues.
• Curiosity and a systems mindset.
• Strong ownership and independence.
• Comfort with technology, including Excel/Google Sheets, new platforms, and an interest in AI tools and automation.
• Familiarity with US payment rails, including ACH and wire transfers, or comparable payment systems.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
• Ability to prioritize and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment.
• Fluent English, written and spoken.
• Availability to work US Eastern/Central business hours.

Requirements

• Experience in fintech, lending, banking, or B2B payments.
• Familiarity with SQL, BI tools, scripting, or automation platforms.
• Experience improving operational processes, controls, or internal systems.
• Experience using AI agents or automation tools in daily workflows.
• Spanish fluency.
