[Hiring] National MICS Consultant @AGORA

Role Description

UNICEF works in over 190 countries and territories to save children’s lives, defend their rights, and help them fulfill their potential, from early childhood through adolescence. The Multiple Indicator Cluster Surveys (MICS) is an international household survey programme developed and supported by UNICEF, designed to collect estimates of key indicators used to assess the situation of children and women.

• Over the past 30 years, MICS has expanded from 28 indicators in the first round to more than 200 indicators in the current seventh round (MICS 7).
• UNICEF Uzbekistan will hire a full-time consultant to oversee the MICS process from preparatory work to the release of results.
• The MICS7 will be implemented using CAPI (Computer-Assisted Personal Interviewing).
• The consultant will support the preparation, implementation, and completion of the MICS survey in Uzbekistan.
• Work closely with and advise the National Statistics Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan (NSC).
• Ensure MICS protocols and recommendations are followed at all times.
• Communicate effectively between the UNICEF CO and NSC.
• Coordinate the work of other resource people hired by UNICEF to provide technical assistance.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Social Sciences, Statistics, Demography, Epidemiology or any other related technical field.
• Proven minimum of 10 years’ experience in the coordination and/or management of quantitative household surveys.
• Experience with CAPI data collection.
• Training experience and ability to organize and facilitate training and presentations.
• Experience in data analysis and survey report writing.
• Strong computer skills and expertise in statistical analyses (familiarity with data processing and analysis software, particularly SPSS).
• Excellent oral and written communications in Uzbek, Russian, and English required; knowledge of Karakalpak is an asset.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a multicultural environment.
• Demonstrated leadership, managerial, and supervisory ability.
• Ability and willingness to travel extensively in Uzbekistan and attend regional workshops.
• Familiarity and previous experience of working with MICS in Uzbekistan is highly desirable.
