Role Description

This position involves delivering transformational learning experiences through online live, synchronous classes. Mentors are deeply aligned with Williamsburg Learning’s mission and educational methods.

  • Use the 6 Mentor Practices to Optimize Student Learning
  • Inspire, Challenge, and Engage students
  • Cultivate a hunger for knowledge and encourage curiosity among students
  • Encourage students to learn and continually improve
  • Teach students “how to learn” not “what to learn”
  • Apply the Socratic Method to classroom discussions
  • Help set goals for students and work with the class to help them attain these goals
  • Become a master in your field and seek deeper understanding
  • Find creative ways to communicate your subject area to students
  • Grading, Intervention, and Communication
  • Monitor assignment configuration and accuracy in Canvas
  • Effectively communicate expectations and assignments
  • Grade student work and provide timely feedback
  • Respond to correspondence within one business day
  • Keep track of attendance and ensure student participation
  • Perform weekly intervention for students who are behind
  • Hold a weekly office hour
  • Set up and lead Parent/Mentor Conferences (PMCs)
  • Attend IEP meetings as requested
  • Implement TWC with Integrity in Online Format
  • Inspire students with engaging presentations
  • Design classes around syllabi objectives and key questions
  • Connect with students individually
  • Contribute ideas to the improvement of WL’s curriculum
  • Adapt WL mentoring practices to your role and delivery format
  • Professional Development and Team Participation
  • Embrace your role as a mentor
  • Participate in WL Professional Development activities
  • Attend required L10 meetings and participate fully
  • Participate in periodic observations and feedback opportunities
  • Demonstrate company values with students, parents, and team members
  • Demonstrate Professionalism during all Classes
  • Set rules and expectations for classes
  • Supervise students under your care at all times
  • Know and abide by all WL and applicable LAU policies
  • Stay current on all required trainings through SafeSchools
  • Refer disciplinary issues to proper team members when necessary

Qualifications

  • BA/BS with demonstrated knowledge of and interest in the subject area
  • Current Teaching License with Science Education Endorsement
  • Current Utah or Colorado resident
  • Ability to start working on July 15th, 2025
  • Ability to take and pass a Criminal Background Check
  • Highly organized yet flexible as the program changes
  • Must be a ‘team player’ and follow all relevant policies
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Quick learner with technology and proficient in using email
  • Alignment with the educational philosophy and methods of Williamsburg

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior history of working with middle- and high school-aged students
  • Experience teaching in your subject area
  • Familiarity with PowerPoint and cloud-based apps
  • Prior use of Student Information Systems and Learning Management Systems
