[Hiring] Contract Sourcer @Civil CFO

Role Description

Every Fractional CFO we hire has sat in the full-time CFO seat at an 8- or 9-figure construction company. The best candidates are busy running finance for a contractor, which means they aren't browsing job boards. Someone has to find them, get their attention, and start a conversation. That's this job.

What Civil CFO does:

• We put experienced Fractional CFOs into 8-figure construction firms.
• They help owners decide on pricing, cash, growth, and risk.
• They push back when an owner is about to do something that will cost him the company.

What you'll own:

• Building and running the search for current and former construction CFOs.
• Writing outreach that gets replies from people who aren't looking.
• Running a short first-pass call to confirm a candidate meets our must-haves and is interested.
• Logging every qualified, interested candidate in our ATS and handing them to our team.
• Sending a weekly pipeline update: who you contacted, who responded, who qualified.

What you won't do:

• Final interviews, scheduling, or offers. We handle those.

The Deal:

• Contract (1099), hourly.
• $60 to $110 an hour, depending on experience. No placement fees.
• About 10 hours a week, flexing up or down with our hiring needs. Starting in early December.
• Fully remote, US-based. You set your own schedule and methods.
• One number matters: qualified, interested candidates delivered each month.

Qualifications

• Experience sourcing CFO, VP Finance, or Controller roles.
• Comfort working inside an ATS and keeping clean records.
• Outreach that sounds like a person wrote it (not a template or AI).
• A track record of finding passive candidates through direct outreach.

Requirements

• Experience at an executive search firm (strong plus).
• Work with small, founder-led companies (strong plus).
• Sourcing for construction, industrial, or trades companies (strong plus).

How We Hire

• A short written application, including a sample outreach message.
• A 30-minute call with our team.
• A paid trial in mid-November: about 10 hours of sourcing for one of our searches, at your quoted rate.
• References from two hiring managers you've sourced for.

We're moving fast and expect to decide by mid-November. Ongoing work starts in early December at the latest.
