Role Description

Mosaic seeks a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) who is passionate about Mosaic’s mission to amplify the power of the environmental field by strengthening movement infrastructure—the connections and shared resources all social movements need to succeed.

• Provide strategic and focused leadership of the organization in collaboration with the Governance Assembly.
• Direct Mosaic’s grantmaking to build field-wide connections and shared resources.
• Represent Mosaic externally and articulate Mosaic’s vision in ways that inspire and engage current and new partners.
• Provide sound financial stewardship and attract resources to support Mosaic’s work and mission.
• Lead and empower a lean, focused, and highly capable team.

Qualifications

• Visionary, strategic, and collaborative leader with a deep understanding of social movements.
• Ability to build alignment across diverse stakeholders and facilitate inclusive decision-making.
• Strong organizational and financial acumen with a commitment to participatory grantmaking, equity, and continuous learning.
• Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
• 10+ years' relevant work experience; 4-5+ years’ experience directly managing others.

Requirements

• Strategic and creative thinker with experience in the development and execution of strategy to achieve social goals.
• Extensive knowledge of environmental, social justice, systems change, policy analysis, and movement building.
• Coalition building experience and passion to support pluralistic, collective impact outcomes.
• Fundraising ability with a track record of successfully marshaling resources.
• Demonstrated commitment to justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion.
• Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
• A network in the philanthropy community and an understanding of grantmaking practices.
• Self-starter, highly motivated, resourceful, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
